Article 3 A on Pat Peterson's "INT"

Share

"Ball Out of Bounds
ARTICLE 3. a. A ball not in player possession, other than a kick that scores a field goal, is out of bounds when it touches the ground, a player, a game official or anything else that is on or outside a boundary line."

Julio is out of bounds when he touches the ball simultaneously with Peterson. Even before Peterson could tuck the ball, the ball was dead.

Don't let the rules get in the way of a good story.

I did not know that. I have seen the replays and just checked them again on youtube. Not sure that there is conclusive proof that JJ touched the ball...

Julio touched the ball before Peterson tucked it.

This may be the replay official's line of reasoning for calling not overturning the call.

Re: Article 3 A on Pat Peterson's "INT"

well one thing that looks conclusive to me is peterson never looking down to see if his feet were in...not that it matters but he does claim that he saw both feet in the green/not touching white when he caught the ball. doesnt appear that way to me upon the replay. like i said not that it matters but just more candy for the crybabies

Could be - I certainly won't argue the point.

If it was, I think that the official would have said so when they announced it to avoid this very thing...

I'm doing pan seared Ahi Tuna served over a bed of fresh baby fall greens, with a hot honey mustard dressing.
