Note How to Get Copies of Games

Share

As we stand on the threshold of a new season, I thought it was time for a tape update.

For those who do not know, we have established a group of people who provide copies of old Alabama games to anyone who asks. In exchange, we ask either for a copy of a game we do not have or that you cover our expenses.

To order games, simply e-mail me

Simon@Tidefans.com

Or the people indicated in the appropriate post.

THIS SEASON

As usual, we will able to provide copies of games to people who forget to set their vcr's etc. These will be offered on VHS ($6) or DVD ($10). To order, send e-mail to

simon@tidefans.com

We can accept orders per game or for the whole season.

GAMES ON DVD

The biggest news is that everything is now available on DVD. In most cases, this takes the form of a simple conversion from tape to DVD. In general, one game goes on one DVD, although, in cases where the original tape is of low quality, we might need to use 2 disks.

In addition, some of the bigger games are available on "Enhanced DVD," which includes nice artwork on the cover and disk and starting points that are selected scenes from the games.

FOOTBALL GAMES

We have nearly 300 football games, mostly the original TV broadcasts although older games are usually highlight shows or "coach tapes" (silent films with only the plays.)

The most popular game with more than 700 orders is the Auburn game from 2001. Also included in the top 10 are

1992/93 Sugar Bowl against Miami
1978/79 Sugar Bowl against Penn State
1985 Iron Bowl
1999 Florida game in "The Swamp"

among others.

BASKETBALL GAMES

An expanded number of basketball games are available, including some of the more exciting ones from this last season. Other classics include some of the Kentucky games from the last 70s and early 80s, as well as the defeat of Number One Ranked UCLA a few days after the death of Coach Bryant.

BEAR BRYANT SHOWS

Almost last but certainly not least, we have generated a short list of old Bear Bryant Shows that are available. Some of these are not in great shape, given the age but all the ones offered are "watchable."

For the list, go to

NASTY PEOPLE

Finally, some people continue to "rip off" those of us who send them tapes. Given the success of the exchange (more than 2000 people on our "customer" list) it is not surprising that the number of non-payers has grown. However, even this small percentage leaves a bad taste in our mouths.

PLEASE go and look at this (long) list and, if you know any of these people, urge them to contact me asap. The list is at
