I am seriously mulling over the purchase of a gas grill. I have always cooked with charcoal and the only time I have had anything cooked on a gas grill, it had I guess what they called lava rocks, and it was decent. My problem is that this grill does not have the rocks.
It is a Webber 4 burner 60 grand btu. I would like some feedback on this type grill before I purchase, and recipes if you are willing to share. Keep in mind, I will never foresake my charcoal grill, just looking for something a little more convenient at times.

Webber makes some good products. I have cooked with charcoal and gas, and while charcoal is much more fun to me, I love my gas grill too for convienience as you put it. Its nice to throw a steak on and have dinner ready 15 minutes after you get home. Just like any other grill though, you just have to learn it. I am sure you know hot spots and cold spots on your charcoal if you have used it a lot...the gas one will be the same way. Just like anything else, practice makes perfect!
If you like the no hassle of gas go for it and Webber makes a great product. I have a gas grill we use when time really matters. I think it has been said on this forum before "It's not the grill but the cook that matters".
PS - Gas grills have come a long way since the days of lava rock.

This is the one I was looking at. There are some lower priced ones, but I prefer 60,000 btu. better heating per square inch.
Well, the site didn`t work.
But as keen as seem on the subject, you know what I`m looking for.

You just cant beat a Weber. I've had one for over 10-years and use it at least twice a week. I just replaced the burner for the first time two months ago. I also replaced the flavorizing bars just because the were looking grungy. The grates are still in very good condition. Get the stainless bars & grates and you wont have to worry with it for a looong time. The housing is still in great shape.
Love my Weber

I have a Charbroil 4 burner and it does everything I need. I don't use the side burner much, in fact, the only time I used it was to make Bananas Foster while everyone was eating their steaks. But they are good for keeping sauces warm or for cooking something that needs your attention while you're outside.
Thanks for the input.
I don`t know. I looked at some charbroils and brinkmans and while the prices are right, I really want something that will stand the test of time. Maybe those two will, I don`t know.
The money is really no object , I just do not want to lose too much flavor and I`m not a real marinate type person.
Maybe cooler heads are prevailing me to buy an inexpensive charbroil and trying it before I dive into it too deep with a weber.
Anyway, thanks for replying.

If price is no object buy a Viking. If you really want to one up the neighborhood call David Klose in Houston 1-800-487-7487 or go to his website Mash Here and order one of his catalogs. I have one of his Backyard Chefs and it is a work of art. When I bought mine the price was about $2100 delivered. David now makes some outrageous gas grills you should take a look at, they will last forever and David is a great guy.
Yes Bayou, I have seen some of David`s masterpieces and to simply put are amazing. Great thought `preciate it. I did order his mag.
On Viking, As a gas repairman, I had a personal setback trying to repair a commercial kitchen unit once and I swore off of those. Long story.

I was kind of kidding about the Viking there are several I would covet more than one of those. I had a Viking indoor range once and sold it to buy a Wolf which is not much more than a Viking with red instead of black knobs. I didn't bring the Wolf with me to the new home.
