Of all the dry beans on the list to choose from the two that I absolutely hate are Garbanzo beans and Black Eye Peas. I eat three Black Eye Peas on New Years Day just because. Garbanzo Beans, Chick Peas or whatever you want to call them I never developed a taste for them and I also don't like Humus.
So, I have made my decision on who is the winner and who is the loser now just waiting on Matt and Nick to make up their minds. I guess the judges can drag their feet like the contestants. We have tried ending the challenges before the weekend, on Sunday night, Monday night and Wednesday. Please tell us which time is most convenient for you. Contestants are given more than 7 days in most cases so being late is no longer an excuse.

I wish you had told me about the "Black Eyed Pea" thing before we started. I am sunk. Maybe you like the pie??? It is used as way to get people who normally don't like BEP's to enjoy them. As far as posting early or late, I have just become an instructor, and lesson plans were eating me up as far as time. Now that the first few are out of the way, I think there will be no more issues.

I can't seem to get hold of Nick. Matt and I have made our decisions. Guess I'll wait a while longer he has a message on his answering machine from me.
My apologies to everyone but the family wanted to go to the fish camp at Toledo Bend for a couple of days and that is where I have been. I have made my decision.
derek4tide – Being of Syrian decent I love Garbanzo Beans and I also loved your other recipes. Red Beans, Shrimp, Cajun all those things go together so well done. Margaret, my wife made the bean soufflé and though it was different it was different in a good way we may even spring this on family at Thanksgiving this year. You really surprised me the most out of the remaining chefs and I choose you as the winner.
DrBama – Immunity – you didn’t need immunity your recipes were good. The Red Neck Caviar could have been out of any cookbook. The Lamb Shanks with white beans really knocked me out. The black bean ice cream wasn’t strange to me at all. I have been making red bean ice cream plus a batch of rice ice cream to make my red beans and rice desert for several years. We love it. You are safe.
Ditchdoc – I liked the black eye pea cakes with shrimp and I have had enough Hoppin’ John to not bother to try yours and black eye pea pie? No way Jose’. Rich’s ex mother in law tried to feed me pecan pie made with pinto beans and that was nasty enough. You are safe this week.
WAW4Tide – black bean hummus, why not? I thought it was actually good but us Syrians like hummus and polished off a batch while watching a movie at the camp. I wish I had everything on hand to try the salad it looks very interesting and so did your chicken dish but the best I can give you this week is you are safe.
TheOysterMan - I am so sorry you had a rough week but I’m afraid it just got a little rougher. Ham hocks and butterbeans with cornbread can be a poor man’s feast and I make several pots of butterbeans every year seasoned with ham hocks, ham bones or smoked turkey wings or legs. The other chefs had a better week and I’m afraid we must ask you to pack your knives. You were a wonderful contestant and I enjoyed many of your recipes. Keep up the good work.
Congratulations to the final four.

Congrats to everyone...I lost my job last week unexpectedly and spent this entire week hoping to find another one. Not blaming this week on anything, I just didnt bring "it", but I had a lot else on my mind. Congrats to everyone, I look forward to seeing the finish to this competition.
Oysterman,
Sorry to hear the bad luck man. My wife went throught he same as you back earlier in the year. Even though it was tough at first, it really did wind up being the best thing to ever happen to her. ( well besides meeting me). Remember, network, network, network!!! Hang tough, it'll get better. I have enjoyed competing against you, and wish you the best. RTR

Sorry to hear about your job, OysterMan. I went through that back in January myself - you will land on your feet soon. You did very well throughout the contest - I stole some of your recipes to use over the summer.
