Small Italian restaraunts all over the state of NY have the best food in the country.
This is true down here in FLA as well. My 2 favorite Italian restaurants are both locally owned by Italians from NY. One is in Lakeland, FL and the other is in Dunedin, FL and they speak Itallian wih a Brooklyn accent. They make thier own suace and everything is fresh, never frozen - including the meats. They know me at both and we always talk Yankees baseball.

I avoid the Macaroni Grills and Olive Gardens of the world. They are not good. I love the little mom and pop shops of the world. The food and service are usually better.

Two of the worst restaurants around, for sure. Carrabba's is half-decent, but waaaaay over priced. Kinda like Outback. Worst steak around and they make you pay big $$$$ for it.

It doesn't matter what state you are in or what cuisine they serve, if you go into a restaurant's kitchen you will probably find a Mexican doing the cooking.

I tried the blooming onion and there was so much oil in the bottom of the plate that I was scared to move it because I didn't want oil splashed all over me. And don't get me started on Olive Garden......

Outback has a great fried onion, good bread, and AWESOME croutons. That's it, their steaks are almost inedible!

At Outback I do like the Bloomin' Onion it helps pass the time waiting on the meal with a cold Fosters.

For an entree I usually go for the Rack of Lamb, Baby Back ribs or Catch of the Day. I don't like their steaks.

Olive Garden or Johnny Corino's Italian Grill I keep it simple.

Olive Garden appetizer is fried calamari or mussels and dinner is either Lasagna or spaghetti and meat sauce.
Johnny Corino's I get fried calamari and either Lasagna or spaghetti and meat sauce served together.

I don't despise these places but I do know one runs a high risk of getting a low quality meal therefore I always get what has been satisfactory in the past.

When at Outback, get them to pull you a half Guiness, half Fosters.

We drank too much Guiness once on a fishing trip. Thought I would need a seeing eye dog to find my way home.

If you want sweet tea anywhere in the United States.. just go to Mcdonalds.. They have really good sweet tea.

Burger King in Canada has poutine on the menu.. (fries with gravy and cheese curds)

You cant get 'good' cornbread anywhere in the state of NY.. except at my house.

Small Italian restaraunts all over the state of NY have the best food in the country.

Buffalo wings are better in Buffalo.

Barbeque is pretty much non- edible outside of the south.. but I have found a few good spots.

If you say you want a COKE anywhere but the south... you get a coke. In the south if you ask for a COKE... they will ask what kind.... and you will respond with DR. Pepper, or Mountain Dew, or maybe even a coca cola

You cant get good grits in ANY restaurant.. Grits arent meant to sit around and wait for people to order them.. they either solidify, or break down into a watery mess. Stick to homecooked grits.

Diners have the best soups...
You're not doing it right, you have to order a "co'cola."
