Last year, before or during each game, I baked something sweet every Saturday (except the Sugar Bowl since we were there). Obviously, I should have stayed home & baked!
Not wanting to break my cycle, I was up this morning at 9:30am making homemade chocolate chip cookies! Nothing like a good ole chunk of sugar for breakfast!
Sounds like a nice li'l tradition you've started for yourself.
Do you have a good recipe for Chess Pie? I need a good ol' recipe for Caramel Cake too. Those are two things from my childhood that I remember with great fondness. My grandmother spoiled me rotten with that stuff. I'd love to have two really good recipes for those so I can introduce my girls to two of the most Southern desserts of all time.

Would you believe I've never tried Chess Pie? Here are a few recipes though from Taste of Home! They have some great old recipes.
In fact, haven't tried much of anything sweet lately since I've gone virtually sugarless! It's quite difficult to make sweets every Saturday & not eat them myself!
I KNOW!! Although, I will say that once you get that sugar monkey off your back the cravings go away. I never crave anything sweet anymore. I just take great pleasure in hopping my family up on sweets on occasion.
Thanks for the link.

One day, I started looking at how much sugar I was using in my coffee, and the Cokes I consumed each day & it really shocked me. So now, Coke Zero (when I want a soft drink) and Splenda are my friends!
I still bake for my family, but I bet my hubby hasn't had a soft drink in five years.
Today, I'm baking game day "chewy chocolate cookies with peanut butter chips". So far, I've baked about 2 dozen and only have 6 left to put in the cookie jar!
