Note Games of the Week 10/25

Share

Tuscaloosa County vs. Tuscaloosa Central - with Central being split up into three schools next year, this game will effectively mark the end of this heated 23-year rivalry as we know it. Both teams have qualified for the playoffs, but there is obviously a lot more at state for these schools tonight. TC is riding high with hopes of a state championship, while Central has been rather quiet all season, but is in search of a huge upset.

WS Neal vs. TR Miller - the annual "Battle of Murder Creek"

Marengo vs. McKenzie - 1A Region 1 championship will be decided when these two teams hit the field tonight. McKenzie is undefeated and has been cruising along all season, while the only blemish on Marengo's record was a shocking upset at the hands of Frisco City. Revenge may be a factor, as McKenzie ran all over the Panthers on their home turf in the season finale in '01, en route to the region championship.

Wadley vs. Clay County - battle of undefeated and highly-ranked 1A teams will determine the region winner.

Demopolis vs. Dallas County - undefeated 4A opponents square off. Demopolis coming off a last-second win over Fayette County, and will be hoping that their high-powered offense led by QB Dusty Goodwin and Co. will keep them well ahead of a DCHS team hasn't had trouble blowing out opponents all season.

North Jackson v. East Limestone - another matchup of undefeated 4A opponents

Other games of note:
Winterboro v. Notasulga
Oak Grove v. Tarrant
McGill-Toolen v. Davidson
Leroy v. Southern Choctaw

Note

What about Homewood-Briarwood?

Briarwood won 20-17.

I think I saw Clay county beat up on Wadley pretty good. Opelika destroyed Auburn, I guess the number 22 team in the nation does that. In a pretty big upset, Carver defeated Sidney Lanier tonight. Lary Ware has done an excellent job this year. Carver has won 3 games this year, and they hadn't won a game in 4 years before now. Way to go Larry! RTR
