Best 1st-Round Games?

DiggThis

There are usually some blowouts in the first round with the #1 vs #4 matchups (6A has three teams with 3-7 records in the playoffs!), but there can be some upsets as well.

Let's all pick a couple of interesting games from teams that are in our area. I'll start with:

(1A) Berry (8-2) @ Hazelwood (7-3) Berry's losses were to South Lamar and Parrish, but the loss of their starting QB will hurt their chances of surviving the trip to Town Creek.

(4A) St. Clair Co. (8-2) @ Fayette Co. (9-1) St. Clair Co. lost to Emma Sansom by one, and Alexandria by 40. Fayette's only loss was to Chelsea in Week 2.

I'm not sure Berry can pull the one over H'wood. H'wood has gradually improved this year and I think they pull it out. I think St. Clair has a REAL good shot to beat Fayette. Will they? Who knows, but it should be a good game. Here's a few I think could be close but not from my area:

Excel at Houston Academy(2A)

Washington Co. at Cottonwood(2A)

Hokes Bluff at Susan Moore(3A)

Dora at Alexandria(4A)

Citronelle at Eufaula(5A)

Hewitt-Trussville at Decatur(6A)

Sparkman at Clay Chalkville(6A)

Just a few I think the lower seed has a good chance.

I think St.Clair @ Fayette will be a good one. Fayette has a QB that is a hoss. 6'3 200....passed for around 1700 yds. They've got 3 pretty good recivers. They will air it out. Their D has been pretty good this year too. I think Fayette will win though but it'll be a tough one.

Hazelwood will beat Berry pretty good. Berry is not much w/o their QB. I think he was one of the top defensive players they had too. And Being on the road can't help matters.

Just my opinion....but I cut my teeth in Fayette County.

Our game Friday night should have an interesting sidelight to it. McGill-Toolen, coached by Steve Savarese, goes to Daphne, which is Savarese's former team.

I guess you can go home again!
