I realize that more games = more money for the ahsaa, but

do we have one round too many?

I don't think so. In order to cut out one round, you would have only the top two teams from each region make it into the playoffs. As you can see from Jake's post, there are several regions where three teams are involved in various tiebreak scenarios.

I understand that, but right now a full half of the teams make the playoffs. I think that's just too many.

Re: Playoff Pairings

6A has some good matchups and, with the revamped pairings, some long time powers playing in earlier rounds. One of particular interest here is a potential 2nd round game featuring Opelika @ Prattville. In the past this would have been at least a quarterfinal or even semifinal game.

I was told that Prattville will play the winner of the Stanhope v. Wetumpka game. I do not know if that is still the case though. No matter what though, Prattville will be at home for the first 3 rounds.

1st Round:
Smiths Station @ Prattville
Stanhope @ Opelika
The winners meet in R2

S. Lanier @ Auburn
Enterprise @ Wetumpka
The winners meet in R2

While Prattville could be at home for the first three rounds, there is a scenario where Prattville would be on the road in R3, if Enterprise were to make it that far, the game would be played there.

I apologize; I stand corrected. I misunderstood the coach I talked to. I would expect Prattville to stay home for the fist 3 rounds. I do not see Enterprise beating Auburn (if they are even able to get past Wetumpka).
