You Make the Call 9/15

White scores a touchdown and lines up for a two point attempt. During the play, White 14 throws a pass to White 88 in the end zone. Green 5 interferes with White 88 but White 88 still catches the ball in the end zone. What are White's options regarding the penalty?

Re: You Make the Call 9/15

It could be even more fun if there was a pass interference on the TD as well as the 2 pt. conversion.

Re: You Make the Call 9/15

1) Decline and kickoff

2) Accept and retry the points.

I'm not real sure since he caught the pass, but those are what I'm going with.

Re: You Make the Call 9/15

My guess is that white can take the points and get to take the penalty on the kickoff. Maybe I will get lucky and get it right

Sorry...I can't help but try and answer these. Many of them I don't know

Re: You Make the Call 9/15

Nice job Vol. If the opponent of the scoring team commits a foul during the play, the scoring team can take the points and enforce the penalty on the kickoff. If the pass interference had happened on the touchdown, they could have taken the penalty on the try and run it from the 1 1/2 or they could take it on the kickoff.

Re: You Make the Call 9/15

I think too...

had the DPI occurred during the TD they could take that on the kickoff. Then if another DPI occurred during the 2 pt try...they could also take that on the kickoff. This would mean a kickoff from R's 30. Basically 30 yards of penalties added on the kickoff.

I am going to start giving these a couple of days before I answer. These are my favorite threads on the board

Re: You Make the Call 9/15

Let's assume that A scores a TD, B fouls, and A elects to take the penalty on the kickoff. Now A fouls on the XP try. Can B now elect to cancel the kickoff penalty and have A retry the extra point?

Re: You Make the Call 9/15

Be would have to accept the penalty in order to make A retry the point.Any fouls enforced on the kickoff would be administered in the order they occurred.
