Game Thread: OFFICIAL POSTGAME THREAD - Bama v. UMO...

No. It's not close to a Pyrrhic victory. A Pyrrhic victory is one that leaves the victor so depleted that it might as well count as a loss because the victor cannot continue. So a Pyrrhic victory is a victory only in name. I would also add that the depletion of the forces would have to some...

The FOX meltdown from the CFP selection

Normally I'm okay with the fact that people have their pet biases...even sports talking heads. But what bothers me is that people are apoplectic about it, like some grave injustice was done. I can see making a case for tOSU, but it's not like they were undefeated and didn't get curb stomped by a...

Game Thread: OFFICIAL POST-GAME THREAD - Bama vs. Barn...

Sadly, I think our problems in tonight's game were apparent from the first game of the season. We had no offensive identity all year, and I'd have given up all the blowouts against the Vanderbilts, and Ole Miss's to have had a more balanced offense.

    Opinions on our defense

I thought our D got after the quarterback a lot better in this game than any of our previous ones this year. There were times when there were so many defensive players in Arkansas' backfield, it looked like we were on O going the other way!

    Funnymaine week 7

The most excited I got in the game was when Mack Wilson knocked their running back out at 1 yard line. It's hard to complain too much when your biggest disappointment is letting a team get a meaningless touchdown at the end of blowout.

Aaron Suttles Takes a Look at Daboll's Offense

Here's the one slight nitpick/concern I have with what I've seen of Daboll's offense so far. There have been a lot more of what looks like designed quarterback runs this year. I certainly appreciate the fact that we're running it more this year than we have under Kiffin, but I think also that...

Alabama Assistant Bo Davis leaving over inquiry into possible recruiting violations

Yeah. I'm not happy with the way the NCAA handled the Means case, but Dubose was the real problem for us back then. This quote from the Scarbinsky article reassures me a little bit about the instant issue, at least insofar as it indicates that the University is being as proactive as it can be.

Saban's 2015 New Gameplan - We score A LOT, you punt a lot

I think this is part of Saban's plan to finally get some rules changed.

    CFP Selection Show watch thread

Okay. I've finally got to weigh in here, because I feel like one important point is being missed in the arguments about the CFP creating controversy. TCU and Baylor have absolutely no right to complain about getting left out of the playoff because under the BCS system they wouldn't have had a...

    The Next Playoff/BCS/CG Incarnation

I've definitely been disappointed with the decision to use a committee to seed the playoff. That being said, I do find it curious that folks are getting apoplectic about teams possibly not getting into the playoff that wouldn't have even had a shot under the previous system. To be sure, the BCS...

Nussmeier/Replacement at OC (keep OC discussion here)

Again, it's all according to a 'source,' so take it for what it's worth, but according to ESPN's reporting of that source, Kiffin's a done deal. http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/10275677/lane-kiffin-hired-alabama-crimson-tide-offensive-coordinator

Dr. Kevin Elko to Coach Saban "It's time to reinvent and rebuild the whole thing..."

Re: Dr. Kevin Elko to Coach Saban "It's time to reinvent and rebuild the whole thing. I agree that Saban needs to 'rebuild' in a sense. A lot of folks I talked to out here (media as well) were talking about Saban returning Texas to championship form as a challenge. Saban's already proven that...

    Defending the HUNH

Sure, but there's a point where your returns diminish. I think bill polian (former Indy gm) conducted a study for draft planning purposes on player size and winning percentage and found that heavier teams did not win more than lighter ones. I think we can probably afford to give up a few pounds...

    Defending the HUNH

Okay. Maybe 'smashmouth' is a little much. But I do (perhaps a bit optimistically)think that once defenses get a little smaller and faster and scheme a little differently to handle these offenses inevitably there will be a return to the type of offensive play that we more traditionally associate...

    Defending the HUNH

I wonder about that. I'm hoping that we'll just see a bit 'market correction' (for lack of a better term), where once defenses re-adapt to the hurryup/spread offense by having more agile and fleeter-of-foot defenders, offenses will go back to smashmouth football using tight ends and fullbacks...
