I had heard that his journal contradicted his request for the medal but have not seen a credible source on it. Will be interesting if true.

It seems that Bob Doles 1st purple heart came from an accidental self-inflicted wound. So whats the point? All this nit picking is getting ridiculous
Both canidates have enough important flaws to go around. Why obsess about stupid things from a third of a century ago .

That's the truth.

Because Kerry made his 4 months of military service in Vietnam, and not his 20 year congressional record, the primary cornerstone of his campaign. He opened the door and now doesn't want anyone to walk through it.

Thats a bit of a stretch. I would say the cornerstone of his campaign is pointing up all the mistakes that Bush has made. Like it or not, this campaign like all re-election campaigns before it comes down to a referendum on the past 4 years. Thats why Dubya is heading for defeat .

Yeah, that's why Kerry opened his Democratic National Convention speech with, "I'm John Kerry and I'm reporting for duty." followed by a montage of video that Kerry shot of himself in Vietnam and his "Band of Brothers" up on stage with him. Then, don't forget John Edwards earlier during the convention saying that if you want to know John Kerry just ask the men he served with during Vietnam. Then there was pretty much EVERY campaign stump he's been to where he mentions his service in Vietnam. A journalist asked him about his stance on gays and he brought up Vietnam. A pet magazine asked him about whether he liked dogs or cats and he brought up a ludicrous tale about a dog he supposedly had in Vietnam (a completely different story for another thread).

The Kerry campaign acts like John Kerry went to Vietnam for four months and then came home and ran for president. They completely skip over his stint as an anti-war activist, Dukakis' Lt. Governor, and his career in the Senate.

Dude, I hope your wrong about Dubya losing the November election. If so, I hope it's Ronald McDonald that wins because I would rather that clown win than the other one running for the Dems.

Honest to God, if there was a better candidate that was actually running, I would vote for that person. But Gene Simmons isn't running, and neither is Brooke Burke. So, that leaves me with Pres. Bush and Kerry. Gotta go with Bush.

Bayou
the problem is that, just as the swift boat veterans have said, there were no enemy action at the time of the wound.
