Child Missing, Social Worker Slain

per CNN

Not what you want to read if you're a social worker or have foster children.

Re: Child Missing, Social Worker Slain

This is what happens when the government tries the wrong approach to family management and child care. There are some things worth killing for - and my children are on that list...

There are numerous instances (and this may be one of them) where parents are unfit to take care of their kids.

Are you advocating shooting child welfare officials when they are executing these orders? I certainly hope not.

I'd wait until more details come out before issuing yet another blanket condemnation of government.

Ummm, yeah - if they come to take my kids...

My comment was blanket - not specific to this incident...

Exactly. You issued a blanket condemnation of a government act w/o knowing any of the details. Using yourself as an example is (I am assuming) disingenuous.

ETA: When you say "This is what happens" [emphasis added], you link your blanket statement to the specific incident.

LOL - yep. I have no idea what happened here, but taking a child from the child's parents is, according to this person's supervisor, always dangerous. I issued a blanket statement because it seemed to fit. The government has its hands in too many things, and it almost never gets it right. Why should we be surprised that a government agent might be killed in these circumstances?

I judge the government, not the person killed. That woman's death is a tragedy...

So tell us . . . what did the government do wrong in this situation?

And that judgement is based solely on your own disillusionment with government, not on any facts. Me, absent additional information, I'd be more inclined to judge the person who did the actual killing.

If the child is horribly injured/disfigured or dies while in the custody of such bad parents, folks of this mindset will sit back and b|tch about why the govt. authorities didn't do anything to stop it.

"Serves those kids right. Maybe next time they'll think twice before they're born into an abusive household."

Sorry. I've got an adopted daughter and two foster sons, so I'm a little touchy on this subject.

Agreed.

I see the social worker's job as thankless. Unless they get satisfaction from delivering these innocent kids from the hands of terrible parents.

They shouldn't have to wear body armor. But I guess it's a requirement.

I told you that my statements had nothing to do with this case and you will never hear me complain that the government didn't interfere enough in anything...
