There are "pirate havens" amongst the coastal towns in Somalia.

Re: Captain of Pirated Food Relief Ship Rescued

This can be viewed as a test for Obama. News reports indicate he (Obama) twice authorized use of force in getting Capt. Phillips rescued.

I feel this was commendable on the part of Obama and excellent work by our Navy guys. I for one am glad this did not drag out any longer. Negotiations? No. Not with these thugs.

the news is already starting up the whole quivering fear mongering about how our actions will now cause the other pirates to be more violent.

I agree Jet, I have been critical of Obama but when he does something right I will say so. Even if he didn't order the force he didn't handcuff the military as some have in the past.

be careful fellas- if you praise obama for doing good then this will completely shatter the lefties utopian view of people criticizing obama only cause they hate black people and want him to fail.

Quivering fear mongers are incorrect.
I would guess that this will make pirates look elsewhere for their prey.

Captain jumps overboard, SEALs shoot pirates, official says - CNN.com

Without going into a lot of other thoughts on this matter, I personally would be in favor of monstrous collateral damage in taking out the nests where these "pirates" reside.
I think that we need to get unilateral support from the U.N. first, especially from France, Russia and Germany.

Seriously. After what the SEALs unleashed on them, I'd imagine that pirates would much rather attack a French ship.

It's true--Slab has already called an emergency meeting of the cell. The plan is to watch a few episodes of Glenn Beck to restore our delicate sense of perspective.

"You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn't have come here."

If anything, this may make more shipping lines that sail in that area register their ships with the USA.

Re: Captain of Pirated Food Relief Ship Rescued

Can we have one thread that doesn't denigrate into an Obama/anti-Obama p#ssing match?

If that happens, this thread will disappear and so will those that started it. If that's all you can do, don't post.
