Ask Satellite spots activity at North Korean missile site

Share

With North Korea spouting more drivel about their defense and protection, while preparing for antoher ICBM launch, what are your thoughts of the aftermath of a N. Korean mis-fire that could hit Japan, China, Russia or even Hawai'i? If it were to hit China, what would they do, nothing? Or Russia? With the N. Korean's limited technology and the ICBMs to use, is this the making of a major foul-up that could lead to a hot war in Asia?

This whole thing escalated quickly. It will be interesting to see how Obama handles it. It seems that China is starting to grow tired of North Korea's shenanigans.

I'd imagine once China decides enough is enough, North Korea will change their tune. They might be friendly now, but once any part of that missile lands in Chinese territory or threatens to do so... things could get ugly quickly. The same goes for Russia.

Then again... this is most likely just more brinkmanship form Kim Jong-Il. He's been miffed since the new South Korean government has taken a hardline stance against him.

I think Obama has already sent KJI an email and at the end he used the red mad smiley face.

Russia and China have The Idiot Kingdom on their doorstep. Which makes you wonder if the leaders of the two countries, now more nationalist than Communist, are thinking, "How much longer are we going to put up with this stuff?" An errant nuke is far more likely to land in Russian or Chinese territory, given NK's crappy guidance systems.

We could signal to Russia/China that we don't have a problem with them going in and taking out Kim Jong Il, but then we'd be dissing South Korea, a major trading partner and long-time ally. And what would be in place to prevent an escalation that would involve the ROKs anyway.

Personally, I'd rather see a benign Chinese or Russian puppet state to the North than the crazy lunatic who is in place now. But I think both Russia and China still like having The Fruitcake Kingdom in place, if only to tie down tens of thousands of our troops, and to continue the 50+ year headache that is the "truce".

I think that is exactly why they put up with it for now. Good point.

Re: Satellite spots activity at North Korean missile site

Il is clearly owed an apology and should be offered an olive branch of understanding.

That whole "Axis of Evil" reference was just a Texas cowboy spouting off at the mouth.

Can we dispatch Hillary to the peninsula right away to take care of this?

The way Barack has chopped up the State Department, I think the only place Hillary can go to is Andorra.

North Korea is a useful proxy for China. Unless they screw up and drop a nuke on Russia, It'll continue to be status quo

Re: Satellite spots activity at North Korean missile site

Well Kim is blatantly breaking his sanctions. I agree with slab, we should get the chinese or russians to deal with the guy. Otherwise, i think we just need to go Israeli on his butt and airstrike every single missile facility he has, then let him know there is more where that came from.

Remember, there i no "I" in Team America
