Obama swats fly, disappoints PETA

PETA wishes Obama hadn't swatted that fly
Quote:
Friedrich said that PETA was pleased with Obama's voting record in the Senate on behalf of animal rights and noted that he has been outspoken against animal abuses.

Still, "swatting a fly on TV indicates he's not perfect," Friedrich said, "and we're happy to say that we wish he hadn't."

Deputy press secretary Josh Earnest said the White House has no comment on the matter.

ThumbsDown Re: Obama swats fly, disappoints PETA

If we didn't already know that PETA was a bunch of screwballs, we do now! What are we suppose to do - take bugs outside so they can just come back in again and spread diseases?

Believe it or not, my grandson does exactly that, I live on a canal and he wants to fish, but he won't even put a worm or cricket on a hook. But, he's heavily into martial arts (he's 23) and thinks nothing of punching one of his buddies goofy while sparring.

If he doesn't concern himself with the distress of the fish, it sounds like he may be squeamish about actually handling the worms and crickets.

I found a sort of interesting commentary on the relationship between martial arts and the non-violent ideals of the Eastern religions with which they are associated. Ahimsa and Martial Arts

I'm not really sure why PETA would have a problem with Obama killing the fly, he probably brought it back from the dead as soon as the cameras were off.

Or it could be that I brought you into this world, so I can take out of it to.
