Obama backs extending Patriot Act provisions

Obama backs extending Patriot Act provisions - White House- msnbc.com
Quote:
As a presidential candidate, Barack Obama said he would take a close look at the law, based on his past expertise in U.S. constitutional law. Back in May, President Obama said legal institutions must be updated to deal with the threat of terrorism, but in a way that preserves the rule of law and accountability.
Surely this might raise some criticism from the lefties around here?

Oh, and expertise and U.S. Constitution have no place being used in the same sentence in reference to Obama.

As a presidential candidate, Barack Obama said he would take a close look at the law, based on his past experience in subverting U.S. constitutional law. Back in May, President Obama meant legal institutions must be manipulated to deal with the spectre of terrorism, but in a way that preserves central control with the illusion of rule of law and accountability.
Corrected.

Mods get those servers souped up. Everyone grab their hats and cover their ears. The liberal outcry should be deafening.

Yep, the left wingers will be screaming at him until he relents. They will keep up the fight until we have another 9/11 on our hands, then in the aftermath, twist the facts and deny, deny, deny that they are to blame. When will they ever learn that people out there want to destroy this nation and its people.

Re: Obama backs extending Patriot Act provisions

The Patriot Act was a bad concept when Herr Boosh cooked it up and it hasn't gotten any better under Comrade Obama. Scrap it.

It's a bad idea ........ until the party in power realizes this law increases their power ....... then it's a necessity.

That's the reason it was a bad concept. It created the Police State that has eclipsed anything that the KGB or the Stasi could have hoped to accomplish.

As long as they don't take advantage of the Act and start doing illegal activities, I am not opposed to it. While I think the lefties as a whole were against the Act, the real issue came when W/Dick started taking advantage of it, and doing the warrantless wire taps, thats just my opinion.

12 years of teaching Constitutional at a Law school doesn't give you any level of expertise?

When the teaching is to distort, twist, and mangle it into what they want it to fit......then the answer is no, he has none.
