Hotel owner requires Hispanic employees to change names

Hotel owner tells Hispanic workers to change names - Yahoo! News

Quote:
The tough-talking former Marine immediately laid down some new rules. Among them, he forbade the Hispanic workers at the run-down, Southwestern adobe-style hotel from speaking Spanish in his presence (he thought they'd be talking about him), and ordered some to Anglicize their names.
Quote:
After he arrived, Whitten met with the employees. He says he immediately noticed that they were hostile to his management style and worried they might start talking about him in Spanish.
This guy is PARANOID!!!

You are probably right, but I am all in favor of an immigrant having to know English BEFORE they come here.

I agree, that immigrants should learn the english language but what this guy is demanding is outrageous. He is asking people to literally change who they are...changing their name etc..

Yeah, the changing of names is pretty laughable because most traditional Spanish names are easier to pronounce than the names that these so-called parents give to their children here is the U.S.

He's not asking them to learn English. He's telling them to stop using Spanish amongst themselves in private conversations.

An interesting take from CNN's Rick Sanchez, who unexpectedly drops a bombshell on unsuspecting CNN reporter Kyra Phillips (and me, too).

(Actually hearing just how Rick said it was much better than the read, but I can't locate a video)

Thanks for the link. The more that I learn about this, the more that I realize that we just can't trust the media any more. This case has been purposely mis-reported all over the country. While I do not agree with all of this man's decisions, none of them are driven by racism or discriminatory behavior. He wants his switchboard operators to use names that can be easily remembered and used by his customers, not names that sound "white"...

Funny how that happens so often, isn't it?

It really is funny how they want to promote racism even where it doesn't appear. The way these lefties want to push the victimization of other races is rediculous. It was also surprising to hear Sanchez point this out, maybe he is just trying to prove that he does have a soul afterall.
