What is it with Tidesports.com forums?

Share

So, it's Saturday night, around 6:00 pm, the Bama-Tennessee game has just ended, and I go on tidesports.com and mention some weaknesses I saw in the game. I got ridiculed something fierce. Has anyone ever noticed that if you don't gulp the kool aid on that board, you will get annihilated?

I mean, I am very grateful to have Saban as our coach, epsecially after years of some pretty bad ones. Dubose, Fran, Price, Shula. But, it doesn't mean that their aren't any weaknesses. Well, I had about 5 or 6 private messages from other posters telling me to apologize to the entire board for what I said, or I was toast! Unbelievable. This is exactly the reason I like this site. It is very rational and you don't get beat down for your opinions. Another time on tidesports, I actually had someone tell me that I had made an "inferred indirect death threat toward an individual". How it got that misconstrued is still beyond me.

Those dummies were saying "mods, you have access to his e-mail address. You should report his remark to the authorities". I replied with something like "you can't be serious". One of them replied with "if Chris Rattey doesn't report your remark, I will!" "What you did is a felony by the way". And it only got crazier from there. They just wouldn't let it go and kept on saying for me to "expect a knock at my door or a phone call any minute" and that "inferred death threats over the internet are a felony with no statute of limitations". So I would have to worry about getting busted for it for the rest of my life.

Finally, one of them who was actually acting civil replied to the others telling them to grow the hell up. It was nuts to say the least. That seems to happen a lot on tidepsports.com forums. Posters attack each other over nothing.

Mob mentality can flare up at any moment over there.

Certain posters have more leeway to criticize than most. It's a trip!
