Ask Has anyone ever seen the movie "Katyn"?

Share

The movie details the massacre of some 22,000 Polish army officers, professors & students in 1940-41 which were ordered by Stalin & signed by unanimous consent of the Politburo then carried out by Soviet NKVD. It is a fascinating film about a piece of history that I had never heard of until watching it last night. Interestingly, the Russian government finally admitted to the massacre & cover up in 1990, but to date, the events have never been labeled as either "War Crimes" or "Stalinist Repression".

The movie is well worth your time if war history is something that interests you:

One of those sad episodes of history. The Poles were caught between a bad place and a really bad place.

FWIW, FDR called Stalin "Uncle Joe" and said, "He's a politician just like me."
