Apparently according to witnesses this guy started chanting in Arabic Alluah Akbar. However its not completely known if this is accurate. this is often the same thing many terrorists shout out before attacking. This guy seems like an unbalanced nutjob....

The more that we learn about the guy, the more it looks like he is just an unstable person whose mind snapped. It is not clear that this man's actions can be laid at the feet of Islam. Now, it is not clear that it cannot be either, but this guy just reads like a nut job who snapped.

All of the signs are there - from his "very quiet" solitary life, problems working with others, problems working with patients, etc. He identified himself as a Palestinian even though he is of mixed heritage and was born in the US. That could be read many ways, almost none of them positive.

He might not have snapped if not faced with combat deployment, but who knows. The sad thing - he offered to pay the govt back for his education in exchange for a discharge after 9/11. Given everything else that we know about him (excluding the attack yesterday), he should have been given that release.

Why the heck do we have emotionally unstable people who identify themselves with a terrorist state doing post-combat stress therapy for soldiers? How is that helping him or the soldiers?

Bad stuff, all the way around...

I had a number of devout muslims in my company in the 10th Mountain Division. They were as patriotic as anyone...

The problem is that that's not the way it's done. They're tried, convicted, sentenced, and sent to prison for years and years and years where these Islamic nuts then recruit other nuts to the "faith". I hope he dies in the hospital.

Federal/military prison (Would he be tried under the Uniform Code of Military Justice?) would be quite different... especially if he's sent to Leavenworth, which is where the military death row is located.

Show me any law in this country, major or minor, that states there will be a religious test to serve in the military. When you can't find it, and you won't, your point becomes irrelevant.

He won't find it. We'll have this little mishap explained away by our government that this had nothing to do with Islam and this guy just had personal problems. And we'll continue to allow radical islamic terrorists manipulate the loopholes within our societal structure and the frequency of these types of acts will get greater and they will get larger in scale.

Our political correctness will eventually be the death of our country. 9/11 was the beginning and the end is no where in sight under how we do things now.

I'm pretty sure I read he enlisted at age 18. Are you saying he sat idly by in the military for 20 years to suddenly become a terrorist?
