It's been a month since my surgery. It's been a pretty rough ride but I am doing better. I start my weekly Chemo treatments next Friday and will continue all during the Month of March. They wanted to wait till I was completely healed from the surgery. Please know that your love and prayers really helped. I read the responses everytime I could get to the computer. I am not looking forward to the next month but I know it's for the best. I'm sticking around for that National Championship no matter what.
Barbara: Scared us not hearing from you in a while! You keep your head up and continue to stay strong. If you can whip everything you've gone through, I have no doubt you can handle the chemo as well.
I started chemo last Friday and have actually done quite well. Except for being tired all the time I have had not had anything else. I still thank everyone for their continued prayers.

I've not had chemo, but I *have* had 3 cancer surgeries, w/ #4 coming in May (minor, acc. to surgeon). I also had two hellacious cycles of high-dose immunotherapy last summer @ M.D. Anderson. So I feel just a bit of your pain...btw, many here were prayer warriors & encouragers for me, as they are for you. (aside to the pray-ers: it matters greatly so keep 'em coming for Barbara! end of commercial...)
As I say, press on! A thousand years from now, it will all be decisively, gloriously, & eternally OK. Between now & then, though, there are still some bends in the road. Hang in there! Long a fave name of God to me that's more so now: "Jehovah Shammah" - the Lord Who is Present.
Praying,
exiled/mike

Thank you so much. I get caught up in my own pain and suffering and I tend to forget there are so many people in need far worse than myself. We should all be humbled and keep others in our prayers as we celebrate this holy week, not just the sick but so many people are suffering from the economy. I want a say special prayer for our country right now. The recent shooting rampages and the economy has me greatly concerned. This great nation was founded by God, for God, and as this week goes by, let us all keep everyone in our prayers. Only God can be the answer. lThank you again for your special thoughts.
Barbara, I will lift you up today in my quiet time. Do keep us posted on your status as you feel like it. Particular prayer will produce particular answers.
Have you read any of Don Piper's books? I'm just finishing his latest, "Heaven is Real". It doesn't deal specifically with cancer but with those who have to go through suffering in general. if you haven't read them, and will PM me your address I will send them to you right away. I work at NW Alabama Cancer Center and have found his books of great comfort to many.
Have a blessed day!
