Shooting Tragedy last night

Share

Hey, Gang,

Please pray for friends & family of Alec, who was a HS classmate & teammate of my son's. (class of 06) Alec was shot & killed in an argument outside a restaurant last night.

Details are a bit sketchy, and likely will remain so...but a group of them were going to eat. Seems Alec got into an argument w/ this other guy (part of their group!), who then pulled out a pistol & shot Alec in the abdomen. He died later that night.

Alec was a student of mine during my brief HS gig, and I helped coach the football team that he & my son played on. Neat young man...tough as nails, VERY respectful & coachable. He never called me anything but coach, even though I taught him in the classroom too & had hung out w/ him as one of my son's friends @ our house. Since HS Alec had joined the Army Reserves & had served a tour at the knife's edge in Iraq. (convoy security through Indian Country a couple of years back) He was in college @ USM & was making great progress w/ his life.

Quite a number of young folks--including my son--are devastated by this news that's percolating around today. Please remember them. exiled, jr. still has one pharmacy school final tomorrow a.m.; this will NOT do much for his studying & sleeping tonight...understandably.

Some of us not-so-young folks are also devastated. As I say, I enjoyed Alec's friendship quite a bit. 1000 years from now, it'll all be OK; right now, though, this sort of creates massive suction...

Thanks for praying, my Crimson amigos!
Mike/exiled

Very sorry to hear that.

I looked out there and those young rascals in those crimson jerseys and I just wanted to thank God for giving me the opportunity to coach and contribute in some small way at my alma mater."-Coach Bryant
