Hey, Gang,
I'd appreciate prayer for mrs. exiled (Lisa) & me. We head back out to Houston/M.D. Anderson tomorrow for some more cancer-related medical fun. Monday, 5/18 - travel from H'burg to Houston Tuesday, 5/19 - bloodwork & P.E.T. scans ("bloodsucking & nuke-ing" as I call it ) Wed. 5/20 - appt w/ surgeon, Dr. Mehran to discuss results of tests/scans & plan for... Thursday, 5/21 - surgery to remove the spot in the lining of my pleural cavity near the ribs
Prolly a day or two in hospital, & then home.
**This all depends critically on the scans Tuesday showing no unpleasant surprises.** The spot is not a new metastatis of my prior metastatic melanoma, thankfully. Rather, it's an "implantation" meaning a couple of cancer cells dropped off during a previous surgery. Very small acc. to the Feb. scans.
Please join us in praying that this winds up all of the surgeries & treatments related to melanoma for me.
Thanks much! We are most blessed in the midst of this dark journey.
Roll Tide,
Mike/exiled

Well, my Crimson praying amigos...NO SURGERY WILL BE REQUIRED!!!
Surgeon said that P.E.T. scan results showed (a) the one spot had shrunk considerably from its already-small size, and (b) metabolic activity around that spot had decreased significantly. "So, there's no need for me to operate; I'm cancelling your surgery tomorrow. Go home and enjoy your summer."
I'll be back out here (Houston/MDA) for followup scans, but for now, my scans look good w/ no surgery required. Today was the first time in 17 months that any physician has used the word "normal" to describe a set of exiled P.E.T. scan results. I savored it mightily.
Anyway, thanks so much, friends, for your prayers & encouragement.
With a thankful, full heart,
exiled/Mike
p.s. - my only concern now is that I can no longer play the "well, you know I have cancer..." card at work & w/ mrs. exiled. I'm OK with that.
