Any of you deer hunters ever run across these? They were brought to Texas from India in the early '30s, and have pretty much flourished. There's a bunch of them in the Hills to the west of here (mostly on ranches).

Also, there seems to be a lot of (a lot compared to the rest of the country) what's called black deer around here - White tails with black or dark coats. Its some kind of recessive pigmentation gene, like albino deer.

I have seen a couple of "black deer" before. They are definitely curious looking creatures. Saw them in South Alabama, Marengo County I believe. Never shot one myself though.
