Unlike Last Year, System Mirrors Predictions

For the first time in three years, the ranking teams by points mirrored closely the subjective predictions. That's a good thing, because last year, the point system proved to be a lousy predictor of the league's true strength.
Last year, Georgia topped the SEC East with 43 cumulative points, a figure that also led the league. LSU topped the SEC West with 40 points. Neither made the SEC Championship Game in December.
