Tenn Titans get clobbered 59-0

This is the worst Titans team ever | tennessean.com | The Tennessean

Yes, there are two other winless teams in the league. But at least St. Louis and Tampa Bay don't lose by scores like 59-0.
Think about it. A 59-0 game is the kind of mismatch you get in junior high or Pop Warner. Maybe the NFL should consider a mercy rule or at least let the clock run continuously in the second half.

Hard to believe this collapse. They have too much talent to play this poorly...

After last season? Wow, talk about an over-reaction...

Especially for Adams, who has stuck with Fisher through thick and thin.

Personally, I had a feeling this was going to happen for Tennessee. They were too good last season and caught too many breaks. Anyone who expected them to repeat that success is ludicrous.

I remember that you didn't have them in the palyoffs, but 0-6? No one saw that coming...

I had them third in the AFC South. Yeah, 0-6 wasn't expected, but no one should be shocked with their poor play this year.

Titans owner Bud Adams, who wants to see improvement from his surprisingly miserable football team, has put Coach Jeff Fisher on notice.

"I'll have to make my decision after the season is up,'' Adams said. "Right now we're not doing too well, and that worries me.''

I did not know this: "Adams fired Jerry Glanville after three straight winning seasons. He fired Bum Phillips after three straight playoff appearances."

That means that he has a history of firings after success.

As for Fisher being worried - I don't think so. He would get a 2 year paid vacation and would be a shoo-in for another head coaching job with his history of success. Adams would be doing him a favor by firing him...

Im willing to bet Jeff Fisher is very worried right now. I listened to his weekly presser yesterday afternoon and doesnt sound very confident to me. It no longer matters what a coach has done in the past, but "what have you done for me lately". When Bud Adams wants something, he gets it. Bud Adams wanted the Titans to draft Vince Young a few years ago, and guess what happened.

A lot of area fans including myself believe that former GM Floyd Reese was fired for being the one who drafted Adam "Pacman" Jones and was held responsible for the embarrassment Jones did to the team. Bud Adams is not in the spotlight like some other owners but is def in complete control of his team..even at age 86.

Im not wanting to see Fisher get booted at all. He is the longest tenured coach in the NFL right now. He has been on the bad side of Adams before and survived. The Titans have had some bad seasons before but nothing like this. Sure, Adams could fire him and still have to pay him for the next 2 years and keep him from coaching anywhere else until that contract expires or fire him and buy him out and let him go where ever he pleases. I think a lot will depend what level the animosity gets to between them.

I know a number of professional head coaches (Fisher not among them). If they have been head coaches for more than 5 years, they are set for life, and their children are set for life, and they are working on the grandkids. Fisher has been a head coach for 15 years. He is working on setting up those great grandkids. He isn't worried about anything except his reputation, and he knows that even that is not in jeopardy. If he gets fired, he would get another gig as soon as he wanted one. Trust me, there are a few owners who would fire their existing head coach tomorrow for Fisher...

Bum Phillips' problem was that he coached in the same division as Steelers. Had Houston been in the NFC, the Oilers would have probably made the Super Bowl during that time.
