WR Duke Calhoun names Memphis leader; sets officials, but none to Bama.

With no written offer, it looks like he won't set an official to T-town. Not sure if a written offer would change his mind, but he filled up the weekends in January with visits to UTK, Ark, and OM.

Duke C

It seems the fans are much more in love with him than the staff.............it just appears we are not recruiting him except on the condition that if another prospect commits elsewhere! Oh well I really liked the kid's name anyway!

We should take him so it doesnt matter what Hawthorne does. I think were going to have a hard time finding 7 commits from our A list.

We've already got Niki Stover. Is Hawthorne that critical?

Actually we have McCoy and Alexander too

However,T Hawthorne is a difference maker that has great catching ability...............which qualifies him as an important prospect. IMO however, the most disturbing trend is our loss of the Defensive prospects lately

This is sort of unrelated, but I have been watching some bowl games and especially the Memphis vs Akron game yesterday and the WR play seems to above ours. I know they are smaller schools in smaller conferences, but a ball that hits a WR in the hands should be caught on any level, except maybe pee-wee.

I know our WRs were highly recruited out of HS so what is the problem? I don't know how many drives we had cut short because our WRs just flat out dropped balls that hit them in their hands.

I hope this new class of recruits can come in and contribute in a hurry.

Uh, could it be coaching?

The WRs in the Insight Bowl (Arizona State / Rutgers) were impressive as well. Some of it was bad defense with wide open receivers, but they made some tough catches in traffic as well.
