I just don't get it. We field one of the best defenses in the country the last two years, lose two of our best LB's (one All American, one All SEC), have arguably the best DC in the land, and we should be getting major attention from every LB worth anything. Despite all that, we can't seem to get a commit from any of the "A" list guys. What gives?

Hutchins, Higgenbotham, and Wright were all "A" list guys. People honestly don't realize how high up they really are/were. I don't list Kirschman b/c he could potentially end up at DE.

I think CJK is a mean old man, and I would not like to carry him around on my back for four years if I didn't have to. He dosen't even ASK NICE! Somewhere there is a young man that NEEDS to be the next GREAT ALABAMA LINEBACKER! I will waite for him, it's a VERY HIGH PRICE TO PAY, and he has been told UP-FRONT. BIG difference between wanting and needing, you can be famous almost anywhere, you do not have to have CJK in your earhole in AUGUST. We are so very lucky and blessed to have these young men because it's different at ALABAMA, just ask anyone. And besides. CJK can make an all SEC linebacker out of whoever happens to be standing around......................... BEST RECRUITING CLASS IN YEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! [next year lb/dt]

You win some. You lo$e $ome. Now I'm not going to jump to any conclu$ion$ and assume player$ are being bought by an opponent$ boo$ter$. Plea$e don't $ugge$t to anyone that I thought it was even po$$ible. Ever $o often awbarn i$ gonna pull in a decent recruit, either by former family relation$ or by $imple ignorance. And ever $o often awbarn will have a decent recruiting class. Which ju$t go$es to $how even a blind hog will find an acorn every once in a while.
I agree that we have a good class of linebackers committed at this point and am not dissapointed with who we have. National signing day is four days away. The master piece is still being painted. let's be patient and see what we have after all the i's have been doted and t's have been crossed. I don't think any Bama fan should be overly discouraged if we signed no one else. But I am confident that we have some encouraging news yet to come. Even when awbarn accompli$he$ a minor victory they are $till $econd rate and will alway$ be $econd rate.

recruiting season. What could possibly be in these young recruits minds? I don't have a clue! Now we could speculate that there is some influential force out there that may be swaying these recruits to steer away from Bama, or we can assume that they may just have a somewhat negative image of the whole Bama program. There is one thing for sure and that is--something is causing this bevey of fine recruits to tend to opt for different directions than Bama. I, personally have given up on trying to speculate as to WHY this crazy senario is happening as we speak. If you really want my opinion, Ill have to say that we're talking about young kids who don't know what the word "logic" means.

I think CMS and staff recruit with honesty and by not bad mouthing other staffs and coaches. The other coaches, including the ones down the road, don't follow the same principles and sometimes kids believe them.

I heard a recruiting guru talking about the UA's recruits and he specifically mentioned that he liked the LBs they had recruited because they were blue collar type players that were very coach able and would give you everything they had. Isn't that the type of LB we have had the last couple of years that has been very successful. I promise you that CMS and his staff knows a lot more about the players that he is getting than we do and I don't think he would take a dud just to fill a slot.

While I believe it is truly a terrific class already, I believe that our LB's that have already committed did hurt those deciding late in the process. For this very reason, I believe Stevens committed to AU today... he was their second LB taken and he would have been our fifth (at least from the reports of rival schools). Right now, we know the truth about our LB commits (Higg will at the very least need a redshirt year, Kirshman likely will be a DE, Hutchins will likely be a sign and place, could end up loosing Wright to FSU). However, a rival school is NOT going to report the facts to a prospect... Tubs and others will say, "Why do you want to go to Bama? They already have 5 LB's committed." At the surface, sounds like we are past full... and you can bet that coaches have been using that line on a regular basis.

I personally keep my mouth shut about such things. It still stings to read on rival message boards the comments about "that cheatin' Bama program, always has, always will". Right or wrong, Bama will not live that down for many years.
There may still be some cheating going on with rivals, who knows. If true, whoever it is has to be the biggest fool(s) God ever created.
I think that losing the Auburn game so badly really hurt our recruiting, losing Coach Randolph (and him having his recruiting severely curtailed) hurt some, and (many may disagree) I think it hurts that defensive recruits may feel that Bama intends to fatten them up and put them on the DL at DT. AND, I agree that there are characters in the SEC that will besmirch the name of Alabama to get a recruit, a game CMS seems unwilling to get involved in.
