Just curious, has anyone seen anything about the Arrington kid at Bessemer Academy? He is leading most of the rushing stats in the bham news. He is averaging 15 yards per carry. He has 28 rushes for 420 yards and 5 td's in two games. I watched this kid in peewee ball and he was the real deal. Haven't seen him in years.. His name is Walter Arrington and he should be a senior I would think.
Bessemer Academy (3-0) broke a 6-6 halftime tie to defeat Glenwood (2-1) behind a huge game from Walter Arrington.
Arrington scored two touchdowns, one a 66-yard punt return and the other an 84-yard run, on the way to rushing for 280 yards on 22 carries. He got plenty of help from Morgan Ogilvie, who rushed eight times for 75 yards and two touchdowns, a 9-yard run and a 28-yarder scamper.
FWIW, I saw the Arrington kid play last year and he has decent-good speed. Probably not as good when you compare it to public school. There is a big difference between AISA and AHSAA football. Is this kid a D1 prospect...no. Is he a good player... yes. Would probably do great at a D2 or even a D3 school.
Yeah, but over 800 yards now thru 3 games. That's crazy, he is averaging over 13 yards per carry. I reffed him thru youth ball and then a few years back, he ran all over people. I wonder why there is not even any kid of reports on him anywhere?

Yeah well, those stats kind of remind me of Aaron Johns. Also from a small school. But...you never know until you get them into some of the camps and compare their ability with other better known players.

It seems you are hung up on stats, and at the level of type teams he plays against it just dosn't mean much. IMO the summer camps and how he competes vs other prospects will determine if he is legit.
Yeah, I agree. I have seen this kid play personally. This kids sees the hole and knows how to make people miss. I am sure his stats are a bit skewed due to the comp. he plays against. But still, it's hard not to take a peek at him... Thru 5 games here are his stats:

That's not saying much though. Bessemer is loaded as usual and their competition is horrible. An average player can stand out like this in AISA ball.
Does anyone have any contact with Alabama's recruiters? Just as Ron Ingram said on the radio. This kid is bigtime, he is being recruited by UAB. But like he said Alabama or Auburn needs to take a hard look at this kid. I can vouch, I have seen him play. He is incredible. He has 2500 yards this year and had 2500 yards last year. He averages 13 yards per carry, lets see how he does today in the aisa state championship today in Troy.

Reason: addition
How would he do against any of the public schools? I just don't see him making those numbers in 2A and up.
