how will this very mediocre season effect recruiting?... will it cause any of our targets to look elsewhere?

It depends on their motive in considering UA. If they are fans, maybe not. If they are looking for self gratification, maybe it will.

I believe the negative fans and calling for the coaches head will effect the recruiting more than the losses. The MSU loss was the only "bad" loss, whereas, except for some fair weather/fickle fans the games against Arky, UF and UcheaT were good games (some bad plays but good games).
The recruits that are trying to decide between Bama and several other schools could be swayed away by the wailing and gnashing of teeth.
I think CMM should come out with an extension and raise for CMS, that would show the recruits CMS is going nowhere and the fickle fans they have absolutely NO influence at the Capstone.

Re: Effects on recruiting??

I don't understand your logic in even suggesting that a raise and extension being granted for the performance on Saturday. I understand "sticking it to" the fans and showing them they aren't the boss.... but let's get back to the horrid reality that was the game Saturday. That was the worst loss I've seen since UCF. If that deserves a raise, this program is DEFINITELY heading in the wrong direction and I think that would send a negative message to me if I were a recruit, but I guess I think about things differently. I would want to play for a program that doesn't accept losing, not one that rewards it.

Re: Effects on recruiting??

Hard to say what the effect will be... it sure won't help, in any case. I don't see it affecting our current commits as much as it may affect guys that we are still after.

I don't see it being a huge effect either way. Success is nice, especially if you win on gameday so that visiting recruits can experience the atmosphere, but, most recruits seem to weigh other things more heavily than 1 season's success.

Re: Effects on recruiting??

I guess I look at things different, but a raise and extension for what has happened this season seems a bit out of place to me.
