Alabama's "Soft Verbal" Commits

Share

RTO/mods.....what is the status on our soft commits.ie Marve,Murdock,Gentry,Mcgastin etc..............I keep watching to see if any change in their status happens,and since they all have talked to the staff and CNS I wonder whats the problem. IMO,it must be them b/c CNS has left all previous offers on the table.To be honest,I am growing tired of the "game" they seem to be playing of leaving Bama hanging and really don't see any reason not to let other recruits take their place in the class.

Re: Alabama's "Soft Verbal" Commits

Not a mod, but we don't know what CNS told these guys. What if he told some of them, "The offer from CMS staff is still good, but to be honest, you don't really fit into our plans as much as you did Coach Shula's." I doubt he told Marve that, but Marve cooled off because he liked CMS so much. Just speculation, of course, on my part.

Re: Alabama's "Soft Verbal" Commits

I don't know much but here is what I have heard:

Marve: Bama, even if he goes to Miami, I think we get Fanuzzi who looks pretty solid in film and currently commited to Miami.
Murdock: I think he heads to Pitt with Coach Ball, I don't know for sure but don't think that the current Bama staff has shown Murdock that much love.
Gentry:I havn't heard either way about Gentry to be honest
Mcgastin: He is solid and might end up counting on class 07 numbers instead of gray shirting depending on how things shake up.

Here is the latest...

Bama Mag: Alabama Commits List

* Robert Marve:

Marve had a very good visit to Alabama last weekend but he is still going to Miami this weekend. He also said he has plans to visit Hawaii before making his decision.

Recruits impressed during visits
Quote:
Scout.com four-star quarterback Robert Marve, from Tampa-Plant, (Fla.), visited Alabama for the first time since September. The Tide soft verbal pledge has visits also scheduled to Miami and Hawaii, but his visit to Tuscaloosa may have sealed the deal for one of the nation’s top quarterbacks.

“My family really wants me to go to Alabama," Marve said. “That is really big now. I never really had their support before because they had never been to Alabama, but now they have. They really love the place."
Marve Not Ready To Make Decision
Quote:
Plant senior quarterback Robert Marve enjoyed his recruiting visit to Alabama, but he is still not ready to wear a Crimson Tide uniform.

Marve had a chance to meet Alabama coach Nick Saban, who recently replaced Mike Shula, during his official recruiting visit during the weekend. Even though he liked Saban and the campus, Marve could wait until signing day Feb. 7 before announcing his decision.
* Kourtnei Brown:

He raved about his visit and said he is a solid verbal but he is still visiting Clemson this weekend.

Tide Fans: Kourtnei Brown Update thread

* Nick Gentry:

EDIT: Gentry is firmly committed to Bama after CNS and CKS visited him. Click the Nick Gentry Update thread below for the article.

Tide Fans: Nick Gentry Update thread

* LeMarcus Williams:

Williams is visiting Ole Miss this weekend. He was firmly committed and his visit went well. He had previously said he would not take any other visits beside Alabama. All of a sudden now he said he wants to take an official visit to Ole Miss this weekend. He now says he does want to keep his options open.

* Elliott McGaskin:

McGaskin still has a gray shirt offer from Bama. He visits Alabama this weekend and then he has scheduled visits to Arkansas and West Virginia before NSD.

* Sherod Murdock:

Murdock visited Pittsburgh last weekend and he will visit Bama this weekend. He said he really enjoyed his Pitt visit, and it felt like family. The kicker is now ex-Bama Coach Chris Ball is now on the Pitt staff. Ball has been recruiting Murdock for the last three years. Murdock said after the Bama visit he will make his decision.

Re: Alabama's "Soft Verbal" Commits

Thanks,but as I said most seem very fluid still except,maybe Brown and Williams. However, I left their names off b/c it seems they are coming around. I have no read on Gentry,and from the lack of info it seems he's the most unclear. IMO,Murdock is history,and I get very bad vibes on Marve too.Mcgastin seems to be leaning again toward Bama and if Marve jumps to the U it seems Fanuzzi even though less highly rated would be a great pick up. IMO,I like him just as much as Marve b/c he's bigger, faster,and played aganist tough competion..

I think after this weekend Surf and I are going to do a "gut feeling" thread and post where we think some of these guys go....

McGaskin was told he would be welcomed.

These "other" visits will be ones to watch. Williams at OM, Brown at Clemson, Murdock here (after Pitt), and Marve at Miami.

I think it went over like a lead balloon when I first said it, but after watching senior film of Fanuzzi, I was extremely impressed.....especially comparing it to junior film.

Is it possible Bama and Miami might do a qb swap with Marve and Fanuzzi?

Re: Alabama's "Soft Verbal" Commits

Sounds like a few of these guys didn't necessarily like what they heard/saw from the new staff. Wondered why CNS was talking to so many other recruits......now 'till signing day promises to be a hell of a ride!!!

I agree. All things considered, I don't really see a drop off from Marve to Fanuzzi.
