Re: Lazear to WVU

I really wanted this guy. Would have been nice to have him on the inside with Prince Hall, not to mention Alex Watkins and Rolando McClain on the outside. I know he had some personal issues to clear up, but I think he would have been straightend out by Saban. Oh well, WVU got a good one.

Re: Lazear to WVU

Would have been nice to add some depth at LB but can't say I'm too disappointed given the reported incidents that have involved him.

Re: Lazear to WVU

This is a good thing for us. One of the big things wrong with the team in the past couple of years was a lack of character at crunch time. Yes, there were notable exceptions (Ryans, Harper and Prothro, to name a few). But there were enough troublemakers and corner-cutters to undermine overall esprit de corps.

Keys was a problem, the kid from Hoover (terrible waste of talent, but I can't recall his name for the life of me -- Dawson?) was a problem, and there have been strong hints from the mods about others still on the team.

We need oneness, character and team-first attitudes way more than we need LB talent. Best of luck to Lazear. I hope he turns things around. But I'm glad he'll be trying elsewhere.

Damn fine Linebacker. I'm sure we would've taken a lot of heat for signing him if he had wanted to come to Bama, but he would've been worth it.
