Dawgs get Glenn

Georgia’s border war with Alabama has been heating up since Nick Saban arrived.

Cordy Glenn Profile
The pot may be getting ready to boil over as the Bulldogs grabbed one of the most important commitments of the 2008 signing class today when offensive tackle Cordy Glenn picked the Bulldogs over Alabama. He had visited Alabama last weekend.

“I committed Georgia,” said Glenn Sunday morning.

He could be the next Von Ewing, or maybe not. Bama seems to have had a not so good track record with OL's not living up to their hype.

Sorry to see him headed elsewhere, I think he will be a good one.

If McClain can get his academic situation in order I'd imagine that we'd take him, if not we may be done at OL. JMO. Will be interesting to see if we now pursue Chevalier out of Texas.

Big A Re: OT Cordy Glenn commits to Georgia

The article reads, "The Dawgs and Tide have both focused their recruiting attention on Nick Williams, Toby Jackson and Ben Jones just to name a few."

Ben Jones committed to Georgia several weeks ago. I did not think Alabama had any interest in him. Is Alabama trying to get Jones to change his mind?

If this is the case, it's news to me.

The article was listing out some the recruiting "battles" that Alabama and UGA have been engaged in since Saban arrived. I don't believe it was meant to confined just to recent or current events.

As far as Jones, that was an odd situation and I really wouldn't consider it much of a "battle". From what I remember, Jones wasn't all that well known but he did really well at the UGA and UA summer camps. Richt offered him a scholarship on the spot and then there was some debate whether Saban offered Jones before or after he accepted the UGA scholarship.

I doubt we get AM, just do to the fact that he has already tried to commit, and was told to hold off. Sure hope i'm wrong!

This is my understanding as well.

There was no recruiting "battle" for Jones. He did very well at a couple of camps, but Alabama did not have much interest in him.

They conveniently left out the Tyler Love battle which they lost.

Re: OT Cordy Glenn commits to Georgia

Didn't Jones's father play at UGA as well? Seems like there was some family connection there somewhere.
