I will never understand how Alabama lost to a coach like Tuberville six times in a row. We put our program in the wrong hands from the very top on down for a very long time.
It doesn't take a Paul Bryant to beat a team with bad leadership, bad decision makers and on heavy sanctions since 2002.

If Tuberville is concerned about the right players coming in and Stars do not matter, then why in 2007 did 8 four star and 2 three star players fail to qualify academically?

Did he (Tubby) not inquire about the players as students? You can talk all day and try an convince people you really care but how is it Tubs was not in tune with the grades of those 10 players if he cared about the kind of players au was recruiting?
I wondered this also when he started all this hogwash after NSD. All of a sudden when he's recruiting against a superior, he starts trying to find some good in all those 2 and 3 star "leftover" guys that he convinced to sign.

The funny thing in all this is that our 2008 signing class has proven (so far) to be guys of GREAT character, in addition to being great players.

Tubs is reaching for something to hold on to...he knows he's slipping.

Phillip Marshall of The Huntsville Times by way of Opelika is tracking the Tigers and he is buying what Tubby is selling.

A look at Auburn's football commitments
Quote:
Auburn is off to an extraordinarily fast start in football recruiting, maybe the fastest ever. Already, 11 players have said publicly they plan to sign with Auburn in February.

Some are rated highly by recruiting services and some aren't, but all were high on Auburn's list. Otherwise, they wouldn't have been offered so early in the process.

Re: Tuberville recruits for more than just ‘star ratings’

My question for any barner fan on this board or some of our current experts is what will he say again this year if BAMA cleans the state with the 5 star talent???

I know ears is trying to calm the storm but if CNS kicks his butt again in the state then what will his reply be for that?? The 200 mile radius only works if you are pulling all of the top talent in that 200 mile radius does it not???

If I remember correctly the barn had at least 50% offers to all that committed to us last year and as of right now about the same.. By the end of the recruiting year that number will be higher as on both services almost every player we have an offer out to has a barn offer as well so if it is not about star power then why are they offering guys with 4 - 5 stars ???

We all KNOW it is an effort by ears to deflect the attention of him getting killed on the recruiting front hoping that it will end soon but from the looks of this year and 2010 already it won't happen soon enough to save his job~!~

Re: Tuberville recruits for more than just ‘star ratings’

Tubberville recruits "more than just star ratings" because he has no choice. Georgia gets the top talent in GA, Florida gets the top talent in FL, LSU gets the top talent in LA, and Bama is now getting the top talent in AL (now including Mobile), MS, and the FL panhandle. What's left for the Barn?

EXACTLY~!~

Here is how their list looked last year=

TOP RECRUITS

J. JONES = BAMA
M. BARRON = BAMA
B. SCOTT = BAMA
J. HARRIS = BAMA
A. LAWRENCE = BAMA
T. LOVE = BAMA
Well now let's just get what we can and say we don't recruit players according to their star rating~!~ NOT... They got Sabanized and he will not admit it even if it meant dying~!~

There is probably only one guy on their commit list that we'd take and that's Terrence Coleman, and even he would likely be further down on our DE list. Marshall is a barner and he's trying to spin their situation anyway that he can to make it look positive. Trouble for them is last year was no fluke, CNS and Bama are going to be kicking their butts up and down the recruiting trail from here on out and I dare say that Tubberville probably knows it (at least he should by now).

Heck man. You know that those were only soft offers. You know, if they didn't get the guys that had good character then they would have made Julio and company solid offers. Instead they told Julio that if they didn't get that long snapper then he would get a solid offer. Word on the Institute of Bovine Proctology campus was that Julio, B.J. and Harris all wanted to commit to the Barn but Tubss told them to hold on because he had better character guys ahead of them.

LOL... It sure seems thats the way ears is trying to spin his debacle.. Let them have character and long snappers. I will take character and 5 star players any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

My only question is since we seem to whipping them again on the recruiting trail with our STAR chasing then why are they on the list (just like last year) of all the guys we are after??? Guess when we land them and out recruit the barn again it will be a case of character over ability to play football.....
I for one am glad they are getting such great character guys cause when we break out of this streak and start kicking their butts on a regular basis they will have the character to handle it~!~
