his myspace says that he is in birmingham. Says he is headed to bama but might not have been updated in some time

There has been a lot of different info flying around about the status of Kerry Murphy, none of it very good as far as Alabama is concerned. One thing for sure is like RTO said the earliest he will be able to get into Bama, if that even happens will be in December. I want to hold out hope that he will get it done but I am starting to believe that he will join the ranks of a Mac Tyler or David Paine. They were two outstanding Bama DL signees that never made it in school anywhere, especially Bama. I hope I am wrong but so far I have not seen any evidence of that.

Yep. We could really use him. The time for him is slipping away and I can't help but imagine what it would have done for our D'line had he made it the 1st time around. He could be a 1st team all SEC by this year.
We could really use him, no doubt. I know you veterans probably know this, but how long does a coaching staff typically continue to recruit and accept verbal/written commitments from someone who repeatedly does not make it. I hope for his sake that Kerry is able to make it.

Ask OM and Jerrell Powe....I believe he's been committed to them for the past 23 years running.
I hate to be negative, but I think this one is never gonna happen. For his sake, he should go ahead and get into a smaller college or try the SunBelt or Big East schools and move on with his life.

Reminds me of the Mike Ford saga a few years ago. Wound up going to So. Fl. or one of those upstart schools down there. Or Michael Ricks, for that matter.

If he didn't make it through Hargrave with a GPA strong enough to get into Bama, I don't see it happening in December by him going elsewhere for a semester! From what I've been told, you are watched like a hawk at Hargrave and are almost hand held through study hall, class and other expectations. If that is the case and Kerry didn't have it within him to buckle down and make his grades, I just don't see it happening anywhere. Also, even if he were to get into Bama in December, who is to say that he'll be academically eligible by next fall?
I wish Kerry well and hope he makes it, but from my vantage point it isn't a terribly promising expectation for us or Kerry! He is a solid ball player who has serious potential and for him to not do what is necessary to make the grades and get in school shows a complete lack of respect for his God-Given talents! If he put half the work into the classroom that he put on the football field, he'd easily be a "B/C" student and get into Bama!

I'm kinda in agreement with you, Derek. If he hasn't gotten eligible by now after a year at Hargrave, there's not much hope for him making it to Bama IMO. Would love to have him, but it seems like we're chasing the wind trying to get him eligible to an SEC school.
Jax State may be a good fit for him.

With a few exceptions it just proves to me that if the kid can't qualify academically then you simply don't offer them. Seems like a waste of time and a scholarship IMO.
I heard he enrolled at East Mississippi JuCo in beautiful Scooba, MS. But I don't really see what a semester at Scooba Tech is supposed to do regarding getting him eligible. I agree with the others, if he can't get it together at Hargrave, this looks like a lost cause. Really shows what a problem Rush Probst must have been at Hoover. How did Murphy ever get out of there with a diploma unless he had help?
