He is waiting to hear if he made the grade. He was back home, doing correspondence and has completed the courses.
If he did, he should be here in January.

Scout.com reported pretty much the same story. Kerry Murphy....is he eligible for January 2009 ...From reading the above, it appears like Kerry is going to be qualified to began at Alabama in January of 2009.

Kerry Murphy's tapes from his days at Hoover are impressive. He looked to me like a classic example of what Coach Vince Gibson used to call a guy with "a load between his waist and his knees." That is, the physique of a guy like this makes his center of gravity low and therefore hard for the opposing lineman to move him. But Murphy could jump around with that "load" and he was good at "bullrushing" up the middle and getting after the QB. If Cody stays at Bama next year, Josh Chapman is there, and Murphy is also there, can you imagine some poor center next year after four quarters? There won't be a center in the SEC wanting to play Alabama.

I would be over in the corner with a blankey sucking my thumb crying, "Mama, Mama!"
re: DT Kerry Murphy Update (1/06): He has enrolled at Alabama
^^^ If I'm not mistaken, I think MD spent time at both the NT and End positions, so being that versatile with so much upside, I don't think there will be a problem with him getting PT in the future.

My thoughts exactly.

i would really like to see this guy in crimson.
he reminds me of another former hopeful player... anyone remember robert branch?
I do . He was member of one of the ultra-high quality DL classes that never panned out under Dubose . I don't know what eventually became of him after he FTQ though .

I think Dareus is a prototypical "DE" in Saban's 3-4.
Big, very strong and quick. The combination of our depth at DT and active DE's are going to set the table for a Fletcher Cox, Stinson or Upshaw to come in and put up some HUGE numbers at Jack LB.
