We're going to have some serious depth, and beef on the d-line if everything works out for this kid!
Sounds good to me!
Don't know if we can automatically pencil him in on the DL just yet. We've already got serious depth at the NG/DT position between what we have and what we've got coming in. At OG, however, there are a LOT of ? marks and if Murphy's got good feet, he might be a terrific candidate to replace a road grader like Marlon Davis... who BTW has been a terrific player for us during the course of this year.

You're exactly right! We are going to need some help on the OL! It would be great to have such a large speciman at guard if his feet are quick enough.
Re: DT Kerry Murphy Update (1/06): He has enrolled at Alabama
I think this year even walk-on punters and WRs get their first look at OL. Not only does "something" have to be done,,,,, a LOT of "something" has to be done.
Re: DT Kerry Murphy Update (1/06): He has enrolled at Alabama
Having a son who had an LD and played a sport at a Major university I want to encourage Kerry Murphy to keep working hard. Evidently he gave less than full effort at HHS -- and these students cannot afford to do so. However, my experience is that if he gives full effort, including going to class everyday, then with the tutoring, etc., he will be given every opportunity to stay eligible and graduate. Is it easy? No!
Can you imagine having to do something everyday -- something which is the most difficult task in the world for you to do? For these young men and women their brains are wired differently -- they learn differently and not as the rest of us.
I don't know what kind of family support he has -- I hope it is a lot. For it will take all the family, friends, teammates, coaches, teachers, etc., to keep him focused and going. Evidently he has learned a lot, for he has worked hard just to get in the game. I know a lot of kids who had incredible talent but never worked hard enough to get there. I am proud of him...this should be celebrated by those close to him.

Legality is not the issue here. The real issue is providing the support and encouragement for a young man who is a part of the program. Anything less than that is inconsistent with the requests of CNS.
Re: DT Kerry Murphy Update (1/06): He has enrolled at Alabama
The report may be public, but I personally (this is just my opinion) think that it's a shame that before he ever steps on the practice field at the University that the report is being linked on a Bama board amid open discussion whether he can make it as a student at Bama.
Re: DT Kerry Murphy Update (1/06): He has enrolled at Alabama
Ahh the Safety of posting potshot comments on an anonymous board. Several of you posters should be ashamed of your comments. I'm sure you meant them as cute, but I find them rather "punkish." If you are willing to say them to the person's face given the opportunity then go ahead, but if not you should can them. Try to focus on the positive.
I'm proud of KM. He could have quit but didn't. Good luck Kerry. Glad to have you in Crimson.
Re: DT Kerry Murphy Update (1/06): He has enrolled at Alabama
Will Kerry Murphy be signing a LOI for spring signing like Carpenter, or is it more of a "let's wait until the summer to see how this first semester goes" situation?
Re: DT Kerry Murphy Update (1/06): He has enrolled at Alabama
I have a question:
The title to this thread says Kerry Murphy has enrolled at UA but an article posted today by Gentry Estes says he has not enrolled yet but should before the end of the week.
Does anyone know what this is all about?
Has Kerry actually enrolled yet or not?

re: DT Kerry Murphy Update (1/06): Enrolled but waiting on NCAA clearance
I just wish all of you knew just how hard Kerry has tried just to get to this point. He loves Alabama and wants to play here more than anything. We ought to get behind this young man and wish him the very best in his studies and his football career.
