Interesting development.... Everyone knows Jackson has an official visit at UT this weekend BUT it was just reported that his father will be interviewing with Kiffin next week for DB coach...
I doubt anything will come of it but I just thought I would pass the info along.
Hey, don't we have an opening on our staff with Coach Steele leaving? I'm joking!
re: CB Janzen Jackson Update (2/01): He talks about his Bama visit
There are some radio reports out there on 1210 AM this morning that Tennessee has indeed hired Jackson's father.
I don't know if it will ultimately pan out to be true, but we will see soon enough. To be sure, many of the Tennessee boards still seem to be quiet on that front. At the very least, all we know at this point is that he is expected to interview with the Vols this week.
If the rumors are true, though, combined with Orgeron's Louisiana connections, this one could quickly turn into a very interesting three-team race, and the Vols may very well be the favorite.
At the very least, I'll be honest... I don't like our chances at all with Jackson if his father is on the payroll at Tennessee. It's common sense. If true, I figure it's LSU v. Tennessee for this one.

If it came down to that, I'd much rather see him at UT. LSU's collection of talent is insane, UT's is not, although it getting better daily. The last thing LSU needs is another stud DB.

re: CB Janzen Jackson Update (2/01): He talks about his Bama visit
If UT were to hire Lance Guidry (Janzen Jackson's dad) it could hurt LSU's chances with him much more than it would ours. There were reports than Janzen was already starting to lean toward Bama after Peveto (his recruiter) and Mallory (his future position coach) left LSU. His family moving to Knoxville would remove the in-state pressure for him to attend LSU.
So it comes down to would he attend the school where his father coaches.
If the answer is yes, he switches to UT.
If the answer is no (lots of precedents such as Mark Richt's son signing with Clemson, Urban Meyer's daughter signing with UGA) Bama could very well be his new leader.

I agree, I'd rather UT get him, just to hurt LSUs class
And I must say, if UT did hire Guidry, it wouldn't say much for his future as a recruiter if he couldn't recruit his son

i'm not too psyched at the idea of him sharing the secondary with EB or EG either...

And I agree, it seems like they'd be a formidable trio.
BUT The talent level in UT is far from what it has been, and far below what is already in Baton Rouge. I'd much rather just have him end up in Crimson and not have to worry about it!
