re: ATH/CB Greg Reid Update (2/03): He is announcing his decision tonight
Rivals has jumped Reid to a five star now, and one of the top athletes in the country. I hope we get him.

Coach Bryant, after announcing his retirement, was asked if he was dissappointed that an Alabama player had never won the Heisman Trophy while he was the coach. He said, "No!", and added, "At Alabama our players do not win Heisman Trophies, our teams win national championships."

UGA/UF battle for Reid. Extremely slim chance he winds up at Bama, but if he visits it certainly can't hurt. He would be a HUGE steal if we somehow got him (assuming he qualifies, which may be iffy).

Not that most of us were really counting on signing Reid but I thought we might have a shot at him. That possibilty looks to be a really long shot after his UF visit.
"(Meyer) said that I hurt him. He was upset with me because he said he's been recruiting me since I was a sophomore. We met for almost an hour. We talked about a lot of things and about football, but he wanted me to recommit, but I didn't do it."
Reid now claims a top of three of Georgia, Florida State and Florida, with Alabama on the outside looking in. He's canceled an official visit to Mississippi State.

The latest from Rivals.com is that Reid still plans on taking his official visit to Bama this weekend. His mother will not be coming with him. Hopefully CNS and staff can get him back seriously interested in Bama during his visit.

We just got in on this one too late.
Oh well, if we finish with Kirkpatrick and Myles, I really couldn't care less about what Reid does.
I would like to see Reid signed with this Bama class but like I said even with him still taking the Bama visit it is starting to look like Bama will not land him. Here is a different article with some info about his favorites after his UF visit.
Reid, who is also considering UGA, Florida State, Alabama, and Tennessee, said he still intends to announce his college choice on signing day. Will Florida hold the offer until then? “I’m not sure. We didn’t really get into all of that.”
While Reid stated he has no favorites, he clearly favors Florida State over Florida. “I felt like I was at home at Florida State on my [official] visit, it was totally different from the feeling I got [during my recruiting trip] at Florida.”

re: ATH/CB Greg Reid Update (2/03): He is announcing his decision tonight
A bit of an update on Reid...
He came out tonight and said that Florida had been eliminated, and that he was going to now visit Alabama this weekend, instead of the Gators, and that he will be visiting Georgia on the final weekend before NSD.
The Florida people are going nuts. He was committed to them for the longest, and then he backed away right when his stock went through the roof. All of the UF people were just convinced that he was just playing the game and was coming back into the fold in Gainesville, but it's not happening. With all of the big talk of stealing Moore and some other top prospects, they are in shock that first Kasa and now Reid have reneged on them.
All in all, it's good news for us, but I wouldn't get my hopes up. Judging by his words, this young man has Seminole written all over him. He has named them as his leader, and though he says things can change over the next two visits, I wouldn't count on it. He talks about FSU feeling like home, and one of his teammates is committed there as well.
If he goes to FSU, though, I won't complain a bit. I'd much rather see him leave the conference and be a 'Nole than I would to see us have to compete against him at Florida or Georgia.

it seems that Florida State has stepped up their game in recruiting the last couple of years. Daddy Bowden or the "Coach in Waiting" has started assembling a lot of talent. I wouldn't be surprised at all if they are contending again real soon......on a side note, NC seems to be having a heck of a recruiting year too!!
re: ATH/CB Greg Reid Update (2/03): He is announcing his decision tonight
Supposedly Tubby got this all in motion by stressing that he (and I guess all recruits) should enjoy the process and make sure that they are doing whats best for him.
And now Reid wants guaranteed playing time before he commits and Meyer refused to promise that considering how young his D is. I doubt we can promise that either, and I'm pretty sure FSU and UGA are better equipped to.
re: ATH/CB Greg Reid Update (2/03): He is announcing his decision tonight
The Greg Reid recruiting situation has certainly been fluid. Things seem to change pretty quickly with him here lately. Now a new report is coming from Reid. He has eliminated UF from consideration. He is now considering UGA, FSU, UT, barn, and Bama who he is visiting this weekend. He also now claims to not have a favorite.
Re: ATH/CB Greg Reid Update (1/20): He has decided to end his recruitment by the Ga
We can't guarantee pt, but I feel like we can guarantee a great opportunity if he's actually as ready as he thinks. Our 2 starters are both pretty good, but I don't know if they're cinched into their spots for sure, and the 3rd DB spot is certainly up for grabs, but there's Marquis (who I wouldn't say doesn't have a shot at keeping the job), Dre, Zo, Robby all likely battling.
