To anyone with knowledge of the situation:
Just curious - will we offer QB Cole Hayes in 2009 or just wait until next year?

How strong is the 2011 in-state class compared to years past?
It is still early for an true evaluation of the 2011 prospects from Alabama list. The 2011 list of top prospects has not really filled out yet. The 2010 state prospect rankings aren't even out yet.
2011 Alabama commit WR Marvin Shinn is thought to be one of the top WRs in the country early in the process however there are two more football season's for this class to shape up.

Most I've talked to think it's likely better than 2010, but perhaps not quite as good as 2008 or 2009. That sounds about right... 2010 is clearly a down year for in-state talent, but you rarely see such elite crops like the state produced in 2008 or 2009. Most classes will fill somewhere in between, and that probably will hold true for the 2011 class as well.
Really, though, it's way too early to tell. These 2011 kids now haven't even completed their sophomore years, and a lot of them are still only 15 years old. There are several good prospects that we can identify, but it's going to be a ways before we can really start to evaluate this thing. By the end of this upcoming football season, we should have a pretty decent idea.

• ESPN affiliate InsidetheU.com reports that cornerback Tim Burton (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Cardinal Gibbons) holds an early scholarship offer from Alabama.

Burton is extremely high on Bama. Wouldn't be surprised if he was part of our 2011 class.

This time next year, where do you think Kenny Hilliard will stack up against this year's top running backs such as Michael Dyer and Marcus Lattimore? Is Hilliard the type of prospect that teams would skip recruiting running backs this year to entice him next year?
The 6-foot, 217-pound Hilliard isn't the fastest back in the world, but he has everything else. He runs with tremendous power and strength and looks terrific between the tackles. Hilliard's a downhill guy who has very good balance and vision. At times he can just be plain nasty. Hilliard can also catch the ball out of the backfield and can change directions well for a bigger back. Last season he rushed for 2,377 yards and 34 scores while averaging more than 9 yards per carry.
