Recruited by Burton Burns and Nick Saban .
Bonds was a participant in this years Army All-American Bowl .
10th ranked DT by ESPNU
27th ranked DT by Scout.com
46th ranked DT by Rivals.com
Chris was injured as a senior and limited to competing in just four games .
If Bonds can regain his old form , he's simply off the charts when it comes to potential . When healthy , he displays a combination of size , athleticism and speed comparable to former Tide star Eric Curry . Along with size and speed , Chris has well rounded skills bringing enough strength and quickness off the ball to consistently shed blockers , penetrate the opposing line and apply pressure . Even with the knee problems , he displayed enough natural ability , instincts and football mentality to have his pick of nearly any school in the country . Bonds is expected to red-shirt this season before competing for playing time at the interior end position currently occupied by Brandon Deaderick . Chris selected the Tide over Michigan , Notre Dame , Southern California and Tennessee .

Is the red shirt necessary to heal from injuries? Are his knee injuries of the fluke variety or does he have "Brodie knees"?
I don't know about the injury but a red shirt year will be a big boost for Bonds.
I think redshirting linemen is going to become very common as coach Saban improves the team depth. It is beneficial to the player for his physical and mental development and for the team because it all starts with the big boys up front.
Redshirting players of Bonds' caliber is something we have only been able to do sparingly in the past. What a difference a couple of high level recruiting classes make and it looks like it will only get better.

RTR!
Preach on, brother! Bonds looks like a monster now. If he's going to RS simply due to depth that is awesome. It is absolutely incredible the line depth CNS has been able to develop in a short time.
Hopefully, Bonds will be completely healthy and be an absolute destroyer of offensive backfields during his career at Bama.

Bonds is one of the recruits that concern me. He's been injury prone at the high school level. It's hard for me to imagine him staying healthy at the college level, but hopefully the S & C program at Alabama will help in this area.
If he's good enough for CNS, he's good enough for me. Evaluating talent is one of the things CNS does best IMO. Still, I am concerned about the injuries Bonds has had to this point in his football career.

Brodie knees or flukish injuries Aren't all injuries pretty flukish ? None are planned .... unless you're playing against the barn OL Bonds should RS because while he did make the Army AA team , it was obvious he was far from 100% and still has quite a ways to go with his recovery .

Yep, getting him healthy and keeping him that way will be priority #1. If that happens he could develop into a force on our D-line, he has that kind of talent.

Chris Bonds is one of the top defensive ends in the country. He had serious injuries in both his junior and senior seasons and he was still selected as a USAA. He has the quickness to shed blocks and the pursuit speed to get to into the backfield in a hurry. He also is very strong and physical at the point of attack and a sure tackler. The big question mark is his history of injuries. I also expect him to red shirt and be a top performer on a very talented DL in a couple of years.
