Recruited by Kirby Smart and Nick Saban .
Brandon received first team 5A all-state honors as a senior .
30th ranked DT by ESPNU
13th ranked OT by Scout.com
24th ranked OT by Rivals.com
Moore graded out at 91% as an offensive lineman in 2008 .
Opinions of Moore are pretty varied . Brandon made the move from one side of the line to the other for the Wolverines as a senior . While he continued to receive some work on the defensive front , Moore took one for his team accepting an assignment at left tackle which brought about some rather mixed reviews . Brandon was also injured and playing at less than 100% over the latter half of '08 .
In the present , Brandon is not considered to be an ideal force at defensive tackle and is far from polished as an offensive lineman . That said , he is very much an athlete for a player of his dimensions and has quite an upside which appealed to most college coaching staffs throughout the Southeast . Regardless of which side of the line Moore winds up on , he'll have a lot of work and competition in front of him to make an early move on the depth chart . TideFans feels Brandon will likely settle in on the defensive line before making an eventual impact . How substantial an impact , remains debatable . Brandon chose Alabama over Auburn , Clemson , Florida , Mississippi State and Ole Miss .

I believe it's almost a given no matter what side of the ball he winds up on. On defense there will just be too many guys in front of him, and on offense I don't believe he's far enough along from a technique standpoint to crack the chart there.
I like Moore's athleticism and his potential but he could be a guy that could get lost in the shuffle if he doesn't settle at a position rather early on. JMHO.

I think Brandon will indeed redshirt this Fall and I'm a little undecided as to what I feel follows for him . While he's much larger than these guys , I could easily see Moore having a career path similar to that of Justin Britt , Carlos Stennis , Laron White or Shawn Draper . Meaning .... a guy who ends up making his mark or even posting some starts on both sides of the ball during his time in Tuscaloosa . For myself , BM was one of the 3 or 4 toughest evaluations in our countdown .

I agree.
I think BM is one of the most difficult players to evaluate in this signing class and I can easily see him having a career path like the former Alabama players you named as well.

Admittedly I am relatively bullish on Moore. He hasn't quite found a home just yet, but he's an athletic guy who could have played anywhere in the SEC. That alone ought to tell you about the caliber of player he projects to be at the next level.
And again, he hasn't found a home just yet, but I'm not too worried about that. Guys like Justin Britt, Shawn Draper, and others were mentioned, but I think the biggest thing you need to keep in mind is that the likes of Mike Dubose and Mike Shula are no longer coaching the Tide. Those guys combined to .... away a lot of fine football players who could have otherwise been very valuable players, and that's not going to happen the same way on Saban's watch.
I think Moore will end up playing the combo end-tackle position in the 3-4. I don't see him as being a nose guard, but he's athletic enough to play end but big enough to slide inside, so that makes him a natural fit there.
I do believe he redshirts because, well, why not? Shocking as though it may seem, we are actually building quality depth, and barring a big run of injuries, there's just no reason to waste a year of eligibility for Moore (and many others too). Just give him a year on the scout team and in the S&C program, let him find a position to call home, and then let him crack heads in 2010.
And at the risk of sound repetitive, again the up shot of this all is that this class is so good that Brandon Moore -- a unanimous four-star prospect who could have gone to any SEC school -- isn't even one of the fifteen best. There wasn't a single class we signed from 2001-2007 in which Moore would not have been one of the five top signees. Times have changed, boys.

we are fast approaching the urban myer philosophy of football. that is when you are grabbing a lot of excellent recruits, it is no longer necessary to redshirt recruits. he stated this year, he will not redshirt his recruits, there is just too much talent available, and just cant be waiting on players to improve. our coach is getting to that point as well. amazing, here we are looking at 4 star recruits, that have been recruited by the blue bloods of the sec, and other schools, and the young man selects bama, and he comes up so short on being ready to play. well, i still look at recruiting and the nfl draft as a crap shoot. you are picking young men out of high school, and they have so much to learn, and strength training to take place. the coaches will make their decisions based on their potential, and i am sure we will see a few freshmen make the team each year.
6'5" 320 and the conservation centers on athleticism and how many different positions he could play. I'm willing to wait.
Me too
And I have what may be a stupid question that's been answered for the mod voters. Are the rankings you're giving the players (ie 3 for rotation player, 4 for multi year starter) based off of how you see the players potential in general and no matter the competition they'll be facing to fight for a spot or just realistically how you see them fitting in with THIS team? As in if we were Vandy or Kentucky at this point projecting players without them ever practicing on a college campus, would a guy like Moore or Kelly pretty much automatically be seen as a 4 or 4.5 by your rankings? Seeing as it would be highly likely he'd be expected to start early for them. I'm assuming its based on this team

We're attempting to forecast a players career path and the ratings are talent based but , redshirting or not is effected by Alabama's current roster and depth chart .
Make sense ?

He needs to RS to find his home. I think it'll be either SDE or RG/RT.
Personally, I'm hoping he winds up at RG or RT, as that's where I believe his level of athleticism could be best utilized.
