If Phelon Jones receives a scholarship from UA to play in 2010 he will count against that class. I know this year he has to sit out, but I am pretty sure he will count against the 2010 class.

I know that Jones' father said that Phelon will get a scholly this year while sitting out but that has not been confirmed. We will know if that is the case sometime during or after fall practice. I expect he may have to pay his own way while sitting out but again that has yet to be determined or if it has it has yet to be made public. If Jones go on scholarship this summer then he would count toward the 2010 class as far as I can tell and that would mean there are only a maximum of nine more scholarships available.

What are the odds Devonta Bolton ends up on the offensive side of the ball? I wouldn't mind seeing him as a huge wide receiver or even at tight end. He is built like Vernon Davis of the 49'ers.

Ah, it's possible, but it's going to be very tough.
Right now we have two wide receivers already in the 2010 class, not to mention I think Blake Sims will play there as well. Hopefully we should add Corey Grant today, plus you still have Keenan Allen and Demarco Cobbs out there, and also keep in mind that all four receivers signed from the 2009 class qualified.
And I think that's the biggest problem with Bolton. He's a versatile guy who could play at either wide receiver or linebacker, but honestly we have no real need at either position for a JUCO guy. We are stacked with a ton of quality players at both positions, so why spend a scholarship on a JUCO guy?
I don't know, we'll just have to see how this one plays out. Bolton is highly talented, no doubt, but usually there needs to be a defined path to immediate contribution to sign a JUCO, and we just do not have that with Bolton. I hate to say it because I want to see us get Bolton, but I honestly think we could get a kid just as good coming out of high school with double the eligibility at the same spot.

Caleb Castille worked out this past weekend at the Auburn camp, and was impressive. According to the Barner "insiders," if he can bulk up a tad bit more, they will likely offer him, and honestly I imagine they would probably get him.

Alabama has offered Castille only as an invited Bryant scholarship walk-on. Auburn does appear to be close to offering him a scholarship. I myself doubt he would turn down a football scholarship from Auburn, GT, or Ole Miss who are also recruiting him to take a Bryant scholarship at Bama. It very well could happen since he is a Bama legacy but I don't expect it to.
