In ANDREW BONE: Recruiting chat transcript part lll, I found a reference to potential early enrolees:

I think early enrollees can count towards the previous class or the upcoming one, whichever one the numbers allow.

(1) Early enrollees can choose which class they want to count towards. They can count towards "their" class if needed, but they can also backcount to the previous class if they choose to do so.

(2) Yes, the coaching staff has a plan in place.

I thought I also read that J Williams is considering early enrollment to. Not sure though.

That is correct. However they can count back to the previous class only if there is an open slot left over from the maximum of 25 allowed each year. Also the maximum number of 85 scholarships total has to be considered. CNS makes that decision and he and the coaches make the best choice for the team which is usually the previous class if the numbers allow.

Devonta Bolton is from Norcross, Georgia, and he was a two-way, big, fast, slam-bang, 4-star player in high school. His tapes showed that he could also run the ball. I was thankful when he committed to Bama, since he was from Georgia, and he just had that look about him. He reminds me of Courtney Upshaw, from Eufaula, though Bolton is faster. These are the kind of guys I see bolstering an already good defense. I think both of them want to play some football. This is one reason this 2009 defense could be one of the truly great ones at Bama.

There is currently only one spot available to backcount. If we add any more non-quals (Lacy, Bowman, Sentimore), it will go up.

Regardless, you want early enrollees for the extra spring practice.

I'm beginning to expect that we will have a press conference sometime in late July, where we announce a 20-man squad will be transferring to South Alabama.

In Sabanworld you either:
1. Start
2. Push the starter to be the best he can be.
All others are subject to chronic medical problems, pursuing "other interests", or transferring. Expect more attrition until this football team is full of intense, eager young men who accept the team philosophy and push each other to greater heights than they could accomplish alone. Its a great time to be at, play for, cheer for, or be wanted by the University of Alabama.

Last I checked, we still had 26 commits trying to get those 25 spots (including Lacy, Sentimore, Bowman). Thus, no room fo ANY backcounters yet.

There aren't 25 slots to fill either with the incoming class . Remember , there were 4 guys (one of which may be on a trial run) at Spring practice who were new with only 2 slots available to backcount so , 2 of the next 25 are already on board . This would mean only 23 more can enter this year . I've seen 24 batted around by several and I may have missed something somewhere but , that doesn't add up to me . We'll see but CNS will likely leave us scratching our heads - happy but confused
