SPANISH FORT, Ala. -- Theodore linebacker C.J. Mosley, one of the top college prospects in Alabama, talks about his recruitment after a Rivals.com combine in Spanish Fort recently. Mosley did not participate in the positional drills during the combine after having a bone chip removed from his arm, but he had an impressive showing in running and jumping tests. Mosley said he's still deciding what university he'll attend, though the University of Alabama, Auburn University and LSU are in the mix.

he said his decision will be based on "Campus Life, Depth Chart, and Academics"...how do we look there?
Well, BET or CS might have to comment on the depth chart, but the Capstone definitely wins in campus life and academics. Just the drive into the Barn makes me think of banjos and river rafting, and last time I checked, that cute tutor down at the Ferguson Center actually makes you write your own Sociology paper.

Well, its hard to beat the campus life and academics, unless he's planning on going to Stanford or the like. As for the depth chart, many rivals like to play up the amount of talented LBs we've signed. However, we have five senior LBs on the 2009 team, and use four LBs on the field in many situations. So, there's plenty of playing time available in 2010.

Coach Bryant, after announcing his retirement, was asked if he was dissappointed that an Alabama player had never won the Heisman Trophy while he was the coach. He said, "No!", and added, "At Alabama our players do not win Heisman Trophies, our teams win national championships."

If Mosley weighs 212 now, my guess is that he ends up as a Sam, but Jonathan Atchison is a similar size and he was being told he could play Will.
At Sam, Reamer will be gone in 2010 and Jerrell Harris will be a junior.
At Will, Hightower (who may or may not stay at Will) will be a junior, and Chris Jordan (?) may be the backup there (he'll also be a junior).
Tana Patrick perhaps has the size/athleticism to be at any of the four LB spots, while Atchison figures to be at Sam or Will. Nico Johnson is a future Mike, but may play big minutes at Will this season.
All in all, we've already got some good linebackers/prospects, but unless Patrick, Atchison, Jordan and Nico Johnson all really look strong this season, the depth chart shouldn't look too overwhelming for Mosley.

I don't think the fact that Bama has some pretty good LBs already on the team will affect Mosley at all. Right now it looks like to me that he will sign with Bama.

As far as depth chart, I hate to think about it, but Rolando and Hightower especially may go early in the draft. I'm afraid UA may turn into the NFL feedpipe for defensive players

they both will IMO. it's just something we're going to have to get used to with CNS at the helm, and i don't mind it one bit.

I think if Rolando thinks we have a shot in 2010, he will stay. He has been here from the beginning of the rebuilding process, and I wouldnt be shocked if he didnt want to see it through.
