BamaOnLine.com - Bowman cleared

Alabama signee Michael Bowman has academically qualified and has been approved by the NCAA Clearinghouse, BamaOnLine.com has learned. Bowman will arrive in Tuscaloosa Sunday and is expected to begin classes at for UA's second summer term.

Huge news, and Saban continues to show a knack for finding good value on academic risks.

Even if both Lacy and Sentimore do not qualify (and for the record, I think at least Sentimore will), that means that right around 90% of this class will qualify academically, and that is very good, especially when you consider that a lot of people thought the 2009 class -- not just Alabama's class, but the 2009 crop as a whole -- had a disproportionately higher number of academic risks than usual.

It is going to be more interesting than normal to see how he makes the numbers work. But I have no doubt he will.
