I found this on VolNation and thought is was funny. Later in thread a new poster comes on and claims it was a Bama fun trying to start something. I still find it amusing, but if not a joke would be interesting if it happened. Again I Post this for laughs.
Quote: "Trooper Taylor was recently on Sports Call radio. He said Auburn fans should save their money and don't buy fireworks because Auburn will have all the fireworks they need in July. He was hinting at something very big in recruiting in July.
Believing this to be hype, I decided to find out more. Two of my former coworkers have connections deep into the Auburn program. I made some calls and have confirmed for myself that the Auburn coaches do, in fact, have a huge event planned in July. It will truly be bigger than anything they (or any other school) have done so this year. Possibly ever. It's going to shake the very foundation of Bama v. Auburn recruiting. It could very possibly serve as the turning point in what has been complete domination since Saban arrived at UA.
It is being called Stars and Stripes Weekend (recruiting stars and tiger stripes).
On one weekend in July (the weekend of the 18th), no less than twelve very heavily recruited players will announce that they are committing to Auburn. Their commitment announcements have been coordinated by the Auburn staff to occur on this particular weekend.
I say no less than twelve, because: 1)Ladarius Owens is not among those 12 and may make his decision and announce on July 4 or he may wait to the 18th. 2) Several other top recruits will be present and may decide to commit along with the 12 whose commitment announcements have already been coordinated.
I have never seen anything like this. This is going to vault us into the top five in recruiting rankings and put us in the mix for tons of other players."

re: Just for Laughs: AU's Stars and Stripes Weekend (recruiting stars and tiger stripes)
They can call it what they want, but IMHO they can shake the tree all they want but it's hard to make apples fall when they have already fallen and been gathered.
re: Just for Laughs: AU's Stars and Stripes Weekend (recruiting stars and tiger stripes)
I read about this too. If the Auburn coaches are spending this much time trying to herd cats and get a bunch of commits to announce all at once, even better for us.

My sources tell me that these commitments are all scientifically engineered mutants: the seed of Bo Jackson, mixed with the seed of Zeus, mixed with the seed of a moo-cow, and they are all rated six stars.

I think it was a poster off the tidesports board that started that...at least thats what the thread over there indicates.
Yes.
Since Auburn enjoys starting rumors that are intended to make the Bama Nation worry, I think he created a thing of beauty by starting something that would get the Barn's hopes up...for nothing.

I can't confirm this yet but word I am getting is two 5 star long snappers appear ready to pull the trigger and commit to aubarn.
One of them runs a sub 4.2 and the other runs a 4.3 forty.
That sub-4.2 is actually a 3.9 and the other is 4.0... They turned down the US Olympic Team to join the mighty aubarnites on wire road for the next 4 years...
