Is Keenan Allen leaning harder toward Bama?

Share

I've been reading a lot of statements about Allen from folks like Andrew Bone and the respected posters on this board, and the statements over the past two weeks have been very positive in Bama's favor and Bone even said Bama was the team to Beat. But I haven't seen much mention of Clemson.

About a month to two months ago there were lots of reports that Clemson was coming on strong and gaining ground.

Does anyone know if Clemson has lost there footing with Allen and backslid so to speak, or are they right were they were?

Not sure if Clemson is backsliding or if the Sabanator just kicked it into gear. I don't think he will commit any time soon anyway. I think he'll be a NSD commit. And he is probably the highest priority on our board right now. So, I think he will end up wearing Crimson.

Allen was ready to commit last year, rumor has it, but he held off. Maybe that was to keep other teams busy trying to sway him while CNS worked on others......or maybe not.

Re: Is Keenan Allen leaning harder toward Bama?

Unless something has came out in the last couple of days that I missed, Allen's most recent public comments are that Bama is his overall leader ahead of Clemson.

Sweet, thanks CS. I think we finish we Belue, Milliner, Fulton, Perry, Williams, and Allen. What a awesome group of DBs. RTR!

As CS posted , Bama will be very hard to beat for his services . Truth be told , Allen was put on hold as far back as early last Fall .

I think Allen will be in crimson as long as we want him. Problem is, if we want him at DB, is there room with Williams and Perry at S, already. I have a couple WRs ahead of him on the WR board, and I think the staff does, too. A great prospect, nonetheless.

Was it because they had others rated ahead of him (Belue, Carswell, Perry, etc.) or because they wanted his time his announcement for better effect ? i.e., are you saying he does not have a committable offer ?

Who would be rated ahead of Allen at WR? Ambles? Who else?

Possibilities, not necessarily definites:

Ambles (if we determine his off the field issues are ok)
Prater
Cobb
V. Sanders

I agree with RTO that there are other targets are who are likely ahead of him at this point but , that could change in a hurry once the staff gets a new round of senior film early this Fall . I just think he's been on hold for a long time and will probably remain so until the staff is certain since the # of available slots are have tightened up at such a brisk pace . We'll see but I'd look for the answer to come later rather than sooner .

Re: Is Keenan Allen leaning harder toward Bama?

It is just unbelievable that we now are at the point where we have to turn players of his quality away. It is a great problem to have, but it stinks having to let a talent like that go somewhere else.

Well just look at this way, if the staff turns a player like that away it just means we got somebody they liked better.

And to be clear, we haven't turned Keenan away at this point (and it's entirely possible that we won't at all).
