Good recruiters like Saban have a knack for seeing potential that most don't. Don't sleep on Belue because of his lack of stars. Especially at that position, for Saban to take his commit this early on, he sees something in him that he can utilize.

Not a DB, but Hester was a 2 star brought in by Saban to LSU. And we appreciated it a BUNCH!

Deion Belue took Peters spot. Either he never had a commitable offer or he waited to long and lost his spot. Good luck to him.
I think it's the latter. I mean, don't they give out so many legit verbal offers to guys that they see as being comparable, all things being equal? And they see these guys at different times, whether it be film that was sent to them or at camps. Case in point, they had several outstanding offers to punters that reside out of state, a local kid comes to a camp and booms the fool out of the ball all day, he's offered, and he jumps on it. Saban looks at that kid, and he definitely compared to the guys that had been offered. He's certainly no worse, and that's key, and if he's better, well that's gravy. And here we are... I don't know if Belue got Peter's offer, but someone did, 'cuz he had one, and it was committable. (Private commit to Bama?) And Belue just waltzed in and impressed, like the punter example. No pressure when the offer's on the table. HA! Folks think some of these kids have it easy!

A VISIT TO CLEMSON LAST week had defensive back Garry Peters (6-foot-1, 180 pounds) of Conyers, Ga., humming “Tiger Rag.”
“It’s my favorite school right now,” Peters said. “I liked the facilities, the coaches and the players. Coach (Dabo) Swinney wasn’t there but I hung out with coach Rumph and he showed me around. He said they are losing a lot of people and there’s a good possibility to come in next year and play within the next two years.”

Any news on this kid. I haven't really heard anything about him for a month now and Clemson seems to be going after other DBs and not waiting on him. They just got a commitment from Darius Robinson and have 1 other CB and 3 Safeties on board all ready with DeAndre Hopkins ATH that will play probably CB. So they have recruited 6 DBs that have commited so far. Just curious with Fulton looking like it will be battle to the end for him.
Not much to tell you other than he likes Clemson a lot. DeAndre Hopkins will be playing WR for Clemson and they'll be losing Clemmons (CB) and a few others this year
I think we were all expecting this since the commitment of Deion Belue, and Peters naming Clemson his leader in early July. Alabama now has to turn up the heat on John Fulton. Hopefully we can grab him from your Gamecocks' backyard.

Coach Bryant, after announcing his retirement, was asked if he was dissappointed that an Alabama player had never won the Heisman Trophy while he was the coach. He said, "No!", and added, "At Alabama our players do not win Heisman Trophies, our teams win national championships."
I"ll be really surprised if Fulton commits to Bama. I just get the feeling that he is afraid of the competition that he'll face here. I think he wants it to be a little bit easier to get on the field and it will definitely be easier at South Carolina. JMHO.
